In this role, you’ll use your technical skills to deploy successful product releases, from early product definition and scoping to detailed specification, implementation and roll-out. You’ll work across both platform and UI features, running experiments to drive business metrics. We are deeply engaged in the Chromium OSS project and continue to work closely with other browser vendors, web standards bodies, and the open-source community at large. Microsoft Edge team is contributing to the Chromium project in media, input, graphics, layout, accessibility, scrolling performance, editing, controls, composition, animation, networking, storage and many other areas, powering Microsoft Edge and other Chromium based browsers. We are now on a journey to help satisfy unmet customer needs while contributing to the Chromium OSS project in a way that helps us move the broader web forward.

The ideal candidate is skilled at design and implementation, able to adapt data driven engineering with fail fast approach. They should be able to learn and deliver.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve web platform features to bridge the gap between native applications and the web.
  • Create layered, componentized, testable, interface-based designs and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
  • Collaborate across functional and partner teams to define requirements, Contributes to the identification of dependencies.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with engineers and program managers on open source projects.
  • Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
  • Creates and implements robust code for feature with focus on quality, reusing code as applicable.
  • Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the reliability, performance, testability of product and adapt AI driven development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of professional industry experience working on large projects.
  • 2+ years experience with app development.
  • Excellent design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of professional industry experience working on large projects.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies.
  • Experience with Windows architecture and internals.
  • Experience working on the Chromium open-source codebase.
  • Multi-threaded application development.
  • Experience working on the Chromium open-source codebase.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
