As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking organization’s Acquisition Enablement Platform, you will join an agile team that designs, builds, and delivers secure, stable, and scalable software for the firm’s state‑of‑the‑art products. In this role, you will implement software solutions across multiple components of applications and systems while continuing to grow your capabilities.

Job responsibilities

  • Drive requirements clarification and low-level design (LLD), including design reviews to ensure scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Deliver high-quality code through hands-on development and rigorous peer code reviews.
  • Apply strong algorithms and data-structures knowledge to build efficient, correct implementations.
  • Implement quality assurance practices including static/dynamic checks and automated unit, integration, and system testing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes and preventative improvements.
  • Write secure, high‑quality code in at least one programming language with limited guidance
  • Leverage tools across the Software Development Life Cycle to maximize value through automation
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret large, diverse data sets to identify issues and inform decisions that support secure, stable application development

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training/certification in software engineering concepts with 2+ years of applied experience.
  • Platform engineering experience supporting production microservices and operating against key performance metrics (SLIs/SLOs).
  • Prompt engineering experience using LLM tools (e.g., Gemini, Claude, Copilot) to generate code/design/tests and integrate/troubleshoot into production-grade services/APIs using performance and coding best practices (verify JPMC approval for any external tools).
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with Java/J2EE technologies.
  • Practical experience with Spring Boot and microservices-based architectures.
  • Strong object-oriented design principles with hands-on microservices design patterns.
  • Experience gathering, documenting, and implementing non-functional requirements (NFRs).
  • Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
