Overview

The Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) organization is on a mission to keep customers protected and productive by delivering seamless and timely Windows updates across all supported versions. Within WSD, the Release Automation and Monitoring (RAM) team plays a critical role in ensuring release readiness, validation gating, and reliability signals across the servicing pipeline—directly influencing product quality and on-time delivery.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced UX-focused Software Engineer to join the RAM team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of building intuitive, accessible, and high-performing user experiences that power the tools and dashboards used by engineering and leadership teams to make data-driven release decisions. You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate across disciplines to streamline our risk management and release readiness workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality, performant, and maintainable software solutions with a strong emphasis on user experience.
• Build responsive, accessible, and scalable web applications using modern front-end frameworks such as React, HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Lead UX design and implementation across the RAM toolset, ensuring intuitive and consistent user interfaces that align with Microsoft’s accessibility and design standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate complex data and workflows into elegant, user-centric solutions.
• Contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle, including design, prototyping, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for live site monitoring, incident response, and service reliability.
• Drive secure coding practices and ensure compliance with Microsoft security and accessibility standards.
• Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and experimentation in feature development.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth through knowledge sharing and design leadership.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) improvements.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of technical engineering experience with a focus on front-end development and UX design.
• Proven experience building performant, reliable, accessible, and scalable web applications.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies including React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Strong understanding of responsive design principles, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Ability to navigate and debug unfamiliar codebases and complex UI/backend integrations.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for staying current with emerging technologies and UX best practices.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with backend development using languages such as C# or Java.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and event-driven design.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts and design patterns.
• Exposure to AI/ML models and developer tools.
