Senior Software Engineering Manager

Overview

The Windows Connected Experiences team is looking for a highly motivated and innovative Senior Software Engineering Manager to break new ground as we take our products to orders of magnitude higher scale and rock-solid reliability, build out the intelligence capabilities to dramatically deepen user engagement and create a great cross-device experience. The team is responsible for connected experiences including Phone Link which enable PC users to access capabilities from their Android and iOS phones.

As part of the platform team, you will lead a team that contributes to the services and connectivity fabric powering connected experiences for millions of Windows users. This position will be responsible for areas related to device pairing and cross device communication including protocol design and implementation, security and authentication and integration with cloud services and mobile operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of IC engineers, be responsible for team health and retention.
• Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to plan work and share updates.
• Drive identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
• Act as the leader of Designated Responsible Individuals (DRIs) and guide engineers during active incidents.
• Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• OR equivalent experience.
• Exceptional management skills, with a proven ability to develop and motivate collaborative teams of exceptional engineers.
• Experience working with distributed teams.
• Experience with scrum, Kanban, or other agile engineering techniques.
• Experience with Microsoft technologies and languages a plus (Azure Service Fabric, SQL Server, C#, etc.).
• Experience with Mobile development for Android and iOS a plus.
• 4+ years of engineering management experience.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building applications and services in the cloud.
• Demonstrated experience with application security assessment.
• Ability to communicate technical details clearly across organizational boundaries.
• Experience in DevOps to maintain live services and\or application frameworks.
• Cloud and services experience, with Azure cloud experience highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical skills with systematic and structured approach to software design.
