We are looking for a hands‑on SD‑WAN / WAN Engineer to support and operate large‑scale enterprise WAN environments spanning campus, clinics, and hospital locations. This role focuses on day‑to‑day SD‑WAN stability, BGP‑based routing, incident response, lifecycle management, and automation, with exposure to multiple SD‑WAN platforms such as VMware VeloCloud, Cisco SD‑WAN (Viptela), Fortinet, Aruba/Silver Peak, or similar technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Provide L2/L3 operational support for WAN and SD‑WAN services across geographically distributed sites using platforms such as VMware VeloCloud (preferred), Cisco SD‑WAN, Fortinet Secure SD‑WAN, Aruba EdgeConnect, or equivalent.
Participate in On‑Call rotation (including weekends/after hours as required) to restore WAN outages and critical connectivity incidents within SLA.
Monitor WAN and SD‑WAN health using tools such as SolarWinds, VeloCloud Orchestrator, Cisco vManage, FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer, and act on performance, stability, and compliance issues.
Own internet edge and site‑to‑site connectivity, ensuring redundancy using dual ISPs, HA designs, and optimal routing/path selection.
Troubleshoot Layer‑3 WAN issues, including BGP peering, routing convergence, failover behavior, packet loss, latency, jitter, and path selection.
Support SD‑WAN overlay and underlay troubleshooting, tunnel stability, and application‑aware routing policies.
Drive DPMO and service reliability improvements by identifying recurring WAN defects and implementing preventive fixes.
Execute WAN Get‑Well initiatives, including EOL/EOS router replacements and SD‑WAN edge refresh programs.
Perform Cisco IOS upgrades, SD‑WAN edge software upgrades, and assist with WAN hardware lifecycle management.
Plan and execute maintenance window activities, including WAN cutovers, SD‑WAN turn‑ups, migrations, ISP transitions, and post‑change validation.
Create and follow Method of Procedure (MOP) documents and coordinate with ISPs, carriers, and field engineers.
Ensure configuration standardization and compliance across WAN routers and SD‑WAN devices.
Support incident, problem, and RCA processes, with clear documentation and stakeholder communication.
Work closely with LAN, Wireless, Security, Voice, and Service Desk teams to ensure end‑to‑end connectivity and application reachability.
Support network segmentation and security integration, coordinating routing and traffic‑steering with firewall and security teams.
Identify opportunities to automate WAN and SD‑WAN operations using Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
What Would Your Day Look Like?
Review WAN/SD‑WAN health dashboards, ISP status, BGP adjacencies, and alerts at the start of the day.
