As a Senior Manager, Product Management – Vanguard India Functional Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of product management within Vanguard India. Role Summary

As a Senior Manager, Product Management – Vanguard India Functional Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of product management within Vanguard India. This is a strategic leadership role focused on building and scaling a high‑performing Product Management function, developing talent, and enabling strong alignment between India-based teams and U.S. product leadership.

You will act as the functional leader for India-based Product Managers supporting teams, driving excellence in product craft, operating model maturity, and cross‑regional collaboration. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in building organisations, developing talent, and influencing outcomes without always having direct ownership of product strategy decisions.

Responsibilites

Functional Product Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of India-based Product Managers across Personal Investor product areas
• Establish high standards for product management craft, including discovery, stakeholder management, and outcome-based planning
• Build structured development plans to enhance business acumen, client empathy, and strategic thinking
• Partner with Talent Acquisition, HR, and global product leadership to improve hiring, onboarding, and retention
  
  
  

Product Operating Model & Community of Practice

• Develop and implement scalable product management frameworks, templates, and documentation standards
• Establish a strong India-based Product Management community of practice
• Drive consistency in product rituals, planning processes, and roadmap communication
• Identify and resolve cross-team process and capability gaps in partnership with Product Operations and Agile leadership
  
  
  

U.S.–India Product Connectivity

• Ensure strong alignment between India PMs and U.S.-based Product Managers and Product Family leaders
• Translate global product strategy into actionable, local team context
• Improve planning cadences, decision clarity, and stakeholder communication across geographies
• Proactively address ambiguity in roles, responsibilities, and decision rights
  
  
  

Partnership with Engineering Leadership

• Collaborate with Senior Engineering Managers to build cohesive product, engineering, and design teams
• Drive deeper product understanding across teams beyond delivery execution
• Strengthen team readiness for ownership, including product judgment and production support capabilities
• Identify capability gaps and maturity signals across teams
  
  
  

Product Maturity & Future Ownership

• Define maturity models and indicators to support increased India-based product ownership over time
• Identify opportunities for expanding India’s ownership across platforms, APIs, and capabilities
• Support the evolution of Vanguard India from a capability centre to a strategic product hub
• Build clear and compelling career pathways for Product Managers in India
  
  
  

Required

Qualifications and Skills

• Significant experience in Product Management leadership across digital platforms, APIs, or enterprise technology products
• Proven experience developing and coaching Product Managers, including hiring and capability building
• Strong understanding of product operating models, agile delivery, discovery, and prioritisation
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders globally without direct authority
• Strong cross-functional collaboration experience (engineering, UX, data, business, risk)
• Excellent communication, structured thinking, and storytelling skills
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and build scalable practices from the ground up
  
  
  

Preferred

• Experience in financial services, wealth management, or investment platforms
• Exposure to global or distributed product operating models (U.S.–India)
• Experience building product communities of practice or PM capability frameworks
• Experience scaling product organisations from early-stage to maturity
• Familiarity with APIs, data products, CRM systems, or digital platforms
