The Team

As part of the Global Technology Organization, the aim of Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) team is to enable Mattel as a data-driven organization, by:

• Delivering high-quality data for self-service analytics and data science through a modern data platform aligned with business strategy.
• Ensuring trusted, governed, and well-managed enterprise data.
• Maximizing the availability and value of enterprise information assets.
• Providing scalable analytics platforms, semantic models, and tools that empower business users.
• Promoting enterprise-wide adoption of analytics through education, governance, and continuous improvement.

Mattel is seeking a Senior BI Platform Administrator, based in our Technology & Innovation Center in Hyderabad, India, reporting to the IT Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics.

This role is responsible for the administration, governance, security, performance, availability, and continuous improvement of Mattel's enterprise Business Intelligence platforms, including ThoughtSpot Cloud, Tableau Cloud/Server, and IBM Cognos Analytics on Cloud. The Senior BI Platform Administrator partners closely with Business Intelligence Developers, Data Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, and business stakeholders to ensure that Mattel's reporting platforms remain highly available, secure, scalable, and optimized for thousands of global users.

The successful candidate is a proactive technical leader who continually identifies opportunities to simplify administration, automate repetitive activities, improve platform reliability, and enhance the overall user experience. In addition to platform administration responsibilities, this individual possesses strong data analysis and reporting skills and is expected to contribute to report development, dashboard enhancements, and analytics initiatives as business priorities allow.

This is a critical role in enabling Mattel's enterprise reporting strategy while supporting the organization's ongoing analytics modernization initiatives.

What Your Impact Will Be:

BI Platform Administration

• Administer and support Mattel's enterprise BI platforms, including ThoughtSpot Cloud, Tableau Cloud/Server, and IBM Cognos Analytics on Cloud.
• Ensure high platform availability, reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Perform platform configuration, upgrades, patch validation, and release management activities.
• Monitor platform health, capacity, utilization, and performance trends.
• Troubleshoot complex platform issues and coordinate resolution with software vendors.
• Develop and maintain platform administration standards, operational procedures, and documentation.
• Manage production, development, test, and disaster recovery environments.

Security & Governance

• Administer user authentication, authorization, groups, roles, and permissions across all BI platforms.
• Partner with Identity Management and Information Security teams to implement secure authentication methods including SSO and MFA.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards and audit requirements.
• Implement governance standards for content lifecycle management, naming conventions, certifications, and platform organization.
• Maintain platform metadata, user access reviews, and administrative audit reporting.

Operational Excellence & Automation

• Identify manual administrative activities that can be automated or streamlined.
• Develop scripts, utilities, and operational processes that improve administrator productivity and platform reliability.
• Establish proactive monitoring, alerting, and health dashboards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce operational effort while improving service quality.
• Recommend platform enhancements and new capabilities that improve business value.

Cloud Data Platform Integration

• Partner with Data Engineering teams supporting Google Cloud Platform.
• Understand Google BigQuery architecture, datasets, permissions, and performance characteristics.
• Assist in troubleshooting connectivity between BI platforms and Google BigQuery.
• Support implementation of secure, performant connections between reporting platforms and enterprise data sources.
• Participate in platform architecture discussions involving cloud analytics technologies.

Platform Migration & Modernization

• Support enterprise reporting modernization initiatives.
• Assist with migration planning, platform assessments, validation, testing, and production cutover activities.
• Support migration of IBM Cognos content to ThoughtSpot and other strategic analytics platforms.
• Identify opportunities to improve migration processes, automation, and governance.
• Assist business users during platform transition activities.

Analytics & Report Development

• Perform data analysis to validate business requirements and troubleshoot reporting issues.
• Assist BI Developers with dashboard, report, and worksheet development during periods of available capacity.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for reporting solutions.
• Support testing, deployment, and production validation of reporting enhancements.
• Participate in root cause analysis for data quality and reporting issues.

Collaboration & Customer Support

• Serve as an escalation point for complex platform administration issues.
• Partner with business users to resolve platform-related problems and improve user experience.
• Provide technical guidance to BI Developers regarding platform capabilities and best practices.
• Deliver administrator and end-user training sessions.
• Create and maintain platform documentation, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks.

Continuous Improvement

• Evaluate emerging BI technologies and recommend platform improvements.
• Promote best practices for platform administration, governance, security, and operational excellence.
• Lead initiatives that improve platform stability, user satisfaction, and administrative efficiency.
• Foster a culture of automation, innovation, and continuous improvement across Enterprise Data & Analytics.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience administering enterprise Business Intelligence platforms.
• Advanced administration experience with ThoughtSpot Cloud, Tableau, and IBM Cognos Analytics.
• Strong understanding of enterprise reporting architecture and analytics platform administration.
• Experience supporting cloud-based analytics platforms and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong knowledge of Google BigQuery, including datasets, security, connectivity, and query performance concepts.
• Strong SQL skills for troubleshooting, validation, and data analysis.
• Experience administering enterprise security, authentication, authorization, and role-based access control.
• Experience with SAML, Single Sign-On (SSO), LDAP, OAuth, or similar authentication technologies.
• Experience monitoring platform health, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Experience creating administrative documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
• Demonstrated ability to identify automation opportunities and improve operational processes.
• Experience supporting large global user communities and mission-critical reporting platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high service levels.
