DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 13 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 85 renewable energy projects in 24 states.
About The Role
In this role, you will work as an embedded member of DESRI’s Project Delivery team, supporting the portfolio managed by Commercial & Delivery Lead (CDL), building a deep understanding of how Project Delivery Leads (PDLs) manage projects from commitment through commercial operation, and helping design and implement solutions that allow PDLs to spend more of their time on project execution, relationships, and judgment-intensive activities.
What You'll Do
Operate as an embedded member of the PDL team, participating in project calls, email traffic, internal discussions, and other day-to-day activities across the CDL’s portfolio.
Develop a deep understanding of the PDL role, including project workflows, contractual obligations, recurring deliverables, project milestones and administrative requirements.
Identify & support recurring administrative burdens and process inefficiencies that consume PDL time.
Surface and implement opportunities for automation, process improvement, standardization, or expanded support from DESRI’s Hyderabad office.
Define and coordinate solutions with the appropriate U.S. and Hyderabad teams — designing the mechanism and routing work to the right owner, rather than absorbing administrative tasks directly.
Create and maintain standard operating procedures, trackers, contract exhibits, and other key process documents used within Project Delivery.
Support implementation and adoption of improved workflows and automation tools.
Support and strengthen existing DESRI Hyderabad Project Delivery workstreams, including lender reporting, transaction support, and project performance testing.
Improve and standardise Hyderabad-supported processes across document management, milestone coordination, landowner payments, account setup, and vendor invoicing.
Identify and build the case for expanding Hyderabad support into areas such as change order review, lender diligence, and project schedule coordination.
Serve as a bridge between the U.S. Project Delivery organisation and Hyderabad — supporting project-specific analysis where needed, driving more consistent processes across PDLs and projects, and identifying where deeper integration can create meaningful value.
Help enable PDL’s to focus more of their bandwidth on critical-path relationship and judgment-intensive aspects of project delivery.
Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Construction Management or related field.
Around 5–7 years of experience, with large infrastructure or energy projects — in project delivery, project management, project controls, development, owner’s engineer / PMC, infrastructure advisory, or infrastructure investing. Renewable energy experience is preferred but not required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
Demonstrated curiosity around technology, automation, and process improvement, ideally with evidence of having built or implemented something that lasted.
Working knowledge of project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project and strong Excel skills; exposure to Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, or Smartsheet is an advantage.
Strong organisational and written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with senior U.S.-based stakeholders.
Comfort operating across multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously, in an environment where scope is not always fully defined.
A proactive and intellectually curious approach, with the judgment to identify problems, develop recommendations, and coordinate solutions with more senior team members
