Process Engineer – Battery R&D Pilot Line

Enovix is seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer to support the operation and development of our Battery R&D Pilot Line in Hyderabad. This role will focus on executing and optimizing lithium-ion cell fabrication processes within a fast-paced R&D environment. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to support cell development builds, improve process stability, and enable rapid iteration of new battery technologies.

The ideal candidate is hands-on with manufacturing processes, data-driven in problem solving, and comfortable operating within an R&D pilot line where flexibility and disciplined execution are equally important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily operation of the battery cell R&D pilot manufacturing line, ensuring reliable execution of experimental builds and development programs.
  • Develop, optimize, and monitor cell manufacturing processes, including electrode preparation, coating, drying, calendaring, slitting, cell assembly, electrolyte filling, and sealing.
  • Track and analyze process performance, yield, and defect trends, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with equipment engineers and technicians to troubleshoot process and equipment issues and improve process reliability.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and manufacturing records to ensure repeatable pilot line operations.
  • Support process scale-up and technology transfer from laboratory development to pilot manufacturing.
  • Work closely with materials, product engineering, and quality teams to evaluate new materials and process conditions.
  • Implement process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, throughput, and product consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with battery manufacturing safety protocols and laboratory operational standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery fundamentals and cell manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in battery R&D labs, pilot manufacturing lines, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with process optimization, statistical analysis, root cause analysis, and process control methodologies.
  • Experience developing process documentation, SOPs, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and fast-paced R&D environment.

Summary

The Process Engineer – Battery R&D Pilot Line will play a key role in enabling the successful operation and improvement of Enovix’s Hyderabad R&D pilot line. This role combines hands-on manufacturing process execution with data-driven process improvement, supporting the development of next-generation battery technologies while ensuring disciplined, safe, and efficient pilot line operations.
