Description

Our unit ensures reliable and secure development and implementation of services at the interface between IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operation Technology). In our capability of Industrial Connectivity, we are the primary point of contact for all OT Network and Firewall related inquiries, providing services, expertise, and solutions to BASF production sites and plants. In the role of Platform Service Engineer, you are part of our global product team, responsible for operating and maintaining the OT firewall and network infrastructure, and collaborate with other BASF IT/OT technical experts and vendors to provide end-to-end solution and an exceptional service to BASF production sites and plants.


Main Tasks :

• Work closely with OT firewall and network operations teams and take responsibility for fast change implementation related to our firewalls and incident handling on firewall and network platforms, e.g., Palo Alto, Checkpoint, etc., , leveraging deep technical expertise to resolve complex issues
• Rollout and life cycle management of network components in production environment, e.g., firewalls and other core components
• Streamlining firewall configurations related to compliance regulative
• Collaborate closely with product owners, engineers, and internal business partners to understand requirements and develop solutions and best practices related to OT firewall and network infrastructure and IT/OT integration
• Collaborate with other IT/OT teams and vendors to support network projects and initiatives
• Drives improvements, new innovative approaches and automation in firewall and network monitoring and operations
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging firewall and network technologies, validate and test new solutions
• Keep up-to-date with regulatory requirements related to OT security and incorporate relevant insights into product and service development
  
  
  

Job Requirements


Education :

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Telecommunications or equivalent
  
  
  

Work Experience :

• 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in firewall administration, operating network security and network engineering in the OT or industrial sector
  
  
  

Technical & Professional Knowledge (Mandatory) :

• You have experience working at the interface between IT and OT, ideally with vendors such as Cisco, PaloAlto, CheckPoint, Tufin and global integrators.
• Strong knowledge of OT network protocols, devices, and systems, and the cybersecurity challenges and best practices for protecting them Internal
• Proven experience with defining standards for firewalls and network infrastructures, ideally with a focus on IT and OT integration
• Good knowledge of automation technologies like Python, API integration, etc.
• Knowledge in Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Cloud Networks
• Excellent communication skills in English
  
  
  

Nice to Have :

• Experience in project environments in the OT or industrial sector
• Proven trainings and certification of at least one major firewall brand (e.g. Palo Alto) is a plus
• Further relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, PMP, etc.) preferred
• Ideally first touchpoints with OT asset management
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and to articulate complex technical concepts to different audiences and stakeholders
• Self-motivated, proactive, attitude of ownership, agile mindset and a strong desire to learn
