Purpose
As a Manager Software Engineering – Global Supply Chain Logistics, you will lead engineering teams responsible for logistics execution systems, including carrier management, rate shopping, transit time prediction, and transportation platform integrations. You will drive the technical strategy that powers reliable and cost-effective shipping and delivery experiences for our customers across eCommerce and wholesale fulfillment. This role owns the post-purchase customer experience, ensuring orders are shipped and delivered on time through scalable and intelligent systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the architecture and design of large-scale, distributed logistics execution and carrier management systems.
Develop best practices, standards, and frameworks for carrier selection, transit optimization, and delivery performance engineering.
Guide engineering teams in building and integrating with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), including routing, tendering, and freight audit automation.
Oversee engineering implementation of multi-carrier rate shopping and dynamic delivery promise engines.
Manage full stack engineering teams delivering systems for parcel routing, tracking, and shipping label generation.
Drive seamless integration between WMS platforms and external carrier APIs, shipping platforms such as Proship, Shipium or similar, and TMS solutions like Infios or similar.
Build systems for real-time tracking, predictive transit insights, and proactive exception management, including integration with third-party platforms such as Narvar for carrier event tracking and post-purchase delivery visibility.
Act as a technical mentor and leader, providing strategic guidance and career development for engineers at all levels.
Evaluate and influence the selection of third-party logistics platforms, shipping providers, and TMS vendors.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance fulfillment and delivery outcomes by improving transit performance, reducing shipping costs, and tracking KPIs such as on-time ship rate and delivery accuracy.
Ensure logistics execution systems meet high standards for scalability, fault tolerance, and observability.
Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of software development experience, with at least 5+ years in logistics, shipping, or supply chain technology.
5+ years of experience working with and integrating parcel and carrier systems such as ProShip, Shipium, BluJay, Logistyx or similar
Hands-on experience launching or integrating with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) such as Oracle TMS, Blue Yonder, or MercuryGate.
Strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
Proficiency in languages like GoLang, Java, Python, or C++.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka).
Familiarity with transit time prediction, delivery promise systems, and rate optimization algorithms.
Expertise with workflow orchestration systems such as Temporal.
Track record of leading engineering teams and delivering complex logistics or fulfillment systems.
Experience working in eCommerce and omnichannel fulfillment environments is a strong plus.
Proven ability to own and deliver end-to-end logistics technology initiatives, including carrier integration and post-purchase experience optimization.
