Job Title: IBDP Physics Facilitator

Department: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)

Reports To: IBDP Coordinator / Head of School

Location: School Campus

Job Summary

The IBDP Physics Facilitator is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching of IB Diploma Programme Physics (SL & HL) in alignment with the standards of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The facilitator will promote conceptual understanding, scientific inquiry, and experimental skills while preparing students for internal and external IB assessments.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Teach IBDP Physics (SL & HL) following IB curriculum guidelines.
  • Develop engaging and concept-based lesson plans using inquiry-driven teaching methods.
  • Explain complex physics concepts using experiments, simulations, and real-life applications.
  • Encourage critical thinking, analytical skills, and scientific reasoning.
  • Use technology and digital tools to enhance conceptual understanding.

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with IB standards.
  • Guide students in completing Internal Assessments (IA) and experimental investigations.
  • Prepare students for IB external examinations.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.

Laboratory & Practical Management

  • Plan and conduct Physics laboratory experiments safely and effectively.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory safety protocols and risk assessments.
  • Support students in designing and conducting independent experiments.

Curriculum & Planning

  • Develop unit plans aligned with IB Physics syllabus requirements.
  • Collaborate with other IB faculty for interdisciplinary teaching.
  • Stay updated with IB curriculum revisions and assessment practices.
  • Maintain documentation required for IB programme implementation.

Student Support

  • Mentor students in research, investigations, and data analysis.
  • Guide students working on Extended Essays (Physics).
  • Encourage ethical research practices and academic integrity.
  • Provide additional academic support where required.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend IB workshops and professional development sessions.
  • Participate in school meetings, PTMs, and academic events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching strategies.
  • Follow school policies and IB programme standards.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Physics or related field (Mandatory).
  • B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification (Preferred).
  • IB training or certification in Physics (Preferred).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching IBDP Physics or equivalent international curriculum.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong subject knowledge in Physics concepts and applications.
  • Familiarity with IB assessment structure and marking criteria.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Strong laboratory management and safety awareness.
  • Ability to integrate technology and simulations into lessons.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience guiding Extended Essays (Physics).
  • Experience supervising Internal Assessments (IA).
  • Exposure to international curricula such as IB or Cambridge (IGCSE).
