JOB SUMMARY
Claro Energy is looking for a skilled HT Design Engineer with 3–4 years of experience in high-voltage electrical design for solar power projects and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The candidate will be responsible for electrical system design, preparation of engineering drawings, technical documentation, and coordination with project, procurement, and execution teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. HT Electrical Design – Solar Projects
- Prepare single-line diagrams (SLDs) for solar ground-mount and rooftop projects.
- Design HT evacuation systems, including 11 kV, 22 kV and 33 kV networks, as applicable.
- Prepare cable sizing calculations, cable schedules, and HT cable routing layouts.
- Design transformer, HT switchgear, RMU, VCB and associated electrical systems.
- Prepare layouts for inverter stations, transformer yards and pooling substations.
- Perform load flow, short-circuit, voltage-drop and protection coordination studies, as required.
- Prepare earthing and lightning protection layouts and calculations.
- Prepare bill of quantities (BOQ), technical specifications and material requisitions.
2. BESS Electrical Design
- Prepare electrical SLDs and layouts for BESS installations.
- Design AC-side integration between battery inverters/PCS, transformers, switchgear and the grid.
- Coordinate the design of HT panels, transformers, protection relays and metering systems.
- Review auxiliary power supply, AC/DC distribution and earthing requirements.
- Coordinate with BESS OEMs for interface requirements, technical drawings and equipment specifications.
- Support grid interconnection studies and utility approval documentation.
3. Engineering Documentation
- Prepare and review electrical drawings, including SLDs, layouts, schematics and cable schedules.
- Prepare technical specifications, BOQs and tender/RFQ documents.
- Review vendor drawings and technical offers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable CEA regulations, relevant IS/IEC standards and DISCOM/TRANSCO requirements.
- Support preparation of documents for CEIG approvals, grid connectivity and electrical inspections.
4. Coordination & Project Support
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, procurement and site execution teams.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing and commissioning.
- Resolve design-related site issues and incorporate approved changes into drawings.
- Conduct site visits when required and ensure timely completion of design deliverables.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- 3–4 years of relevant experience in HT electrical design for solar power projects.
- Working knowledge of 11 kV/22 kV/33 kV systems, transformers, VCBs, RMUs and protection systems.
- Experience preparing SLDs, electrical layouts, cable sizing calculations and BOQs.
- Knowledge of solar plant grid evacuation and BESS electrical integration.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Excel.
- Knowledge of ETAP or similar electrical engineering software is preferred.
- Good technical documentation, communication and coordination skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Ground-mount solar projects and rooftop solar installations.
- BESS projects, including PCS, transformers, HT switchgear and grid interconnection.
- Utility approvals, CEIG documentation and electrical testing/commissioning.
- Coordination with equipment manufacturers, consultants and electricity utilities.
