Job Description: Data Architect

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to design and guide the development of secure, scalable data solutions on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric, and the ability to turn business requirements into reliable data platforms that support analytics and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end data architectures and solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Define data integration, storage, processing, and reporting patterns using Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.
• Build and guide the development of data pipelines for batch and, where required, near real-time processing.
• Design and optimize data models, lakehouses, warehouses, and analytical data layers.
• Establish standards for data quality, governance, security, access, and lifecycle management.
• Work with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and application teams to understand requirements and recommend solutions.
• Assess existing data platforms and recommend improvements to performance, scalability, reliability, and cost.
• Provide technical leadership, review architecture and implementation decisions, and mentor data engineering teams.
• Support deployments across development, test, and production environments, including monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and data platform standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• More than 10 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
• Strong experience designing data solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on expertise with Azure Data Factory, including pipeline design, orchestration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including its data engineering and analytics capabilities.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, lakehouse architecture, and dimensional data modeling.
• Experience integrating data from multiple systems and working with structured and semi-structured data.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with programming or scripting languages used in data engineering, such as Python.
• Understanding of data security, governance, data quality, and access control practices.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and business audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI and designing data layers for business intelligence and reporting.
• Familiarity with Azure services such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Azure DevOps.
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated deployment practices for data platforms.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure or Fabric certifications.
• Experience working in a global or enterprise environment with large, complex data sources.
