About The Job
As an Atlassian Platform Owner at Opella, you'll lead platform strategy, governance, reliability and adoption across Jira, Confluence and related apps. You will blend platform product management, agile enablement and vendor/financial stewardship while partnering with Admins, Coaches, Security and Business stakeholders.
The Atlassian Platform Owner leads the vision, roadmap, and day-to-day operations of the Atlassian platform to enable modern, data-driven delivery practices across the organization. Partnering with Agile Coaches, Atlassian Administrators, Engineering, Security, Compliance, and Business leaders, the Platform Owner ensures the platform is stable, scalable, secure, and aligned to agile best practices and business outcomes.

As an Atlassian Administrator at Opella, you'll play a crucial role in our Enabling Platforms & DevOps team, delivering solutions that support our global operations. You'll be at the forefront of implementing and optimizing our Atlassian Cloud portfolio products and integration with marketplace apps and custom solutions, while also bridging the gap between development and project management.
Main Responsibilities
As an Atlassian Platform Owner at Opella, you'll lead platform strategy, governance, reliability and adoption across Jira, Confluence and related apps. You will blend platform product management, agile enablement and vendor/financial stewardship while partnering with Admins, Coaches, Security and Business stakeholders.
The Atlassian Platform Owner leads the vision, roadmap, and day-to-day operations of the Atlassian platform to enable modern, data-driven delivery practices across the organization. Partnering with Agile Coaches, Atlassian Administrators, Engineering, Security, Compliance, and Business leaders, the Platform Owner ensures the platform is stable, scalable, secure, and aligned to agile best practices and business outcomes.
Platform Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and maintain the Atlassian platform vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap, aligning to organizational priorities and agile practices.
- Ensure alignment of the platform with agile best practices and team workflows to optimize productivity, transparency, and collaboration.
- Track and analyze platform performance, adoption, and value metrics; identify improvement areas and drive strategic enhancements.
Operations, Reliability & Upgrades
- Oversee and manage the Atlassian platform (Jira, Confluence, and related services) as a product, ensuring availability, scalability, and strong user experience.
- Manage platform upgrades, configuration baselines, maintenance windows, and release/change calendars; communicate change impacts effectively.
- Coordinate incident response, problem management, and root cause analysis with support teams; maintain runbooks and SLAs.
Governance, Compliance & Security
- Establish and maintain governance for usage, project/site standards, naming conventions, workflows, fields, and permission models.
- Implement data lifecycle policies, backup/restore patterns, content retention, and access controls in partnership with Security and Compliance.
- Ensure compliance requirements (e.g., GxP in Consumer Healthcare contexts) are enforced through process, validation, documentation, and controls.
Vendor, Licensing & Budget Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for Atlassian vendor management: contracts, renewals, usage reviews, performance monitoring, and escalations.
- Manage marketplace apps portfolio (e.g., ScriptRunner, Xray, Comala, draw.io, Snapshots, Guard, Compass, Loom) including value assessments and lifecycle decisions.
- Monitor budget and expenditures for licenses, apps, and operations; forecast demand, right-size plans, and optimize costs.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for Sanofi counterparts, ensuring bidirectional alignment on policies, integrations, and governance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and continuously improve the platform to meet evolving business needs.
- Partner closely with Agile Coaches and the Atlassian Administrator(s) to balance configuration agility with platform stability and standards.
Integrations, Automation & Extensibility
- Oversee design and quality of integrations (Forge apps, REST APIs, enterprise systems) ensuring reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Guide adoption of automation to eliminate manual tasks, standardize workflows, and improve data quality and reporting.
- Evaluate and govern custom solutions for sustainability, documentation, and support readiness.
Enablement, Training & Adoption
- Lead training and onboarding programs to ensure teams leverage Jira/Confluence effectively for Scrum, Kanban, and scaled practices.
- Curate templates, playbooks, dashboards, and guidance that support consistent, simple, and value-focused usage.
- Promote the platform as the system of record for delivery, replacing manual reporting with automated, real-time insights.
About You
Technical Background
- 5+ years owning or administering Atlassian Cloud platforms at scale, including Jira Software and Confluence.
- Deep knowledge of workflows, issue types, fields, schemes, permission models, boards, dashboards, Advanced Roadmaps (Plans), and release management.
- Hands-on experience with automation (native Automation, ScriptRunner), JQL, and reporting; comfortable guiding admins on best-practice configurations.
- Experience integrating Atlassian with enterprise systems (via Forge, REST APIs, and standardized integration patterns).
- Familiarity with marketplace apps such as Xray, Comala Document Management, diagrams.net, Guard, Compass, and Snapshots.
- Understanding of agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and how to operationalize them within Jira/Confluence.
- Awareness of compliance frameworks (e.g., GxP in Consumer Healthcare), data protection, and audit requirements as applied to Atlassian Cloud.
- Atlassian certifications (ACP) and/or Scrum/Agile certifications.
