About the role We are looking for a resourceful and driven professional to join DESRI, based out of the firm’s Hyderabad, India office. The candidate will be a part of the Risk Management and Insurance team and will interact with the U.S. and Hyderabad-based teams, as well as with brokers, underwriters, lenders, and counterparties. The candidate will be a part of a small, inclusive, highly skilled team responsible for structuring, placing, and administering the insurance and risk transfer programs that protect DESRI’s portfolio of solar, wind, and storage assets, within a dynamic environment that values collaboration, thoughtful problem solving, and attention to detail.
What youll do In this role, you will support the placement, administration, and renewal of DESRI’s insurance programs across the operational and construction portfolio, including Operational All-Risk, Builder’s All Risk, Excess Property, Transit and Storage, General Liability, Pollution Legal Liability, Directors and Officers, Cyber, Crime, Errors and Omissions, Workers’ Compensation, Aviation, and the locally placed DESRI India programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Build and maintain Statements of Value and asset schedules, reconciling total insurable values, locations, and construction, occupancy, protection, and exposure data with inputs from Asset Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Accounting.
Assemble underwriting submissions and loss summaries, prepare quote and program structure comparisons across layers and sublimits including High Hazard and Severe Convective Storm, and perform binder and policy checking against agreed terms.
Own premium allocation across project entities and track budget against actual spend.
Prepare insurance workbooks supporting Final Notice to Proceed applications and support the preparation of Project Milestone Bringdown reports that align construction progress with insurance and financing requirements.
Review insurance provisions in EPC, O&M, PPA, interconnection, term loan, and tax equity documents to confirm compliance with required limits, endorsements, and named insured and additional insured structures.
Maintain the counterparty insurance tracker, reviewing contractor and vendor certificates against contractual requirements and escalating deficiencies.
Support transaction-linked placements including tax credit and ITC recapture insurance and surety bonds, assembling diligence responses and comparing carrier indications.
Analyse natural catastrophe exposure across the portfolio for severe convective storm, named windstorm, flood, wildfire, and seismic perils, working with CatNet and RMS outputs and interpreting loss exceedance curves to inform deductible, sublimit, and program structure decisions.
Maintain and extend the team’s Power BI risk dashboard, Excel models, and automation tools, keeping methodology documented so that any analysis produced can be independently verified and explained.
Qualifications-
The ideal candidate should hold –
A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field with 2-6 years, or a master’s degree or professional qualification (MBA) with 1-4 years, of relevant experience in insurance broking, underwriting, risk consulting, or a corporate risk and insurance function. Experience supporting infrastructure, energy, or project finance transactions is a strong plus.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex lookups, large dataset reconciliation, and model building, with the discipline to construct workbooks that a third party can independently audit. Comfort working with large asset schedules where a single transposed value carries real financial consequence.
Working knowledge of commercial property and casualty coverage, including layers and sublimits, deductibles and self-insured retentions, additional insured and waiver of subrogation mechanics, and certificate review. Familiarity with U.S.-placed programs and with renewable energy loss drivers across PV, wind, and BESS assets is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to correspond directly with brokers, underwriters, and internal stakeholders across geographies, and the ability to manage several concurrent workstreams against fixed external deadlines such as renewal dates, financing closings, and claims notification windows.
Preferred exposure to catastrophe modelling concepts and outputs, and to U.S. renewable energy tax credit mechanics including investment and production tax credits, transferability, and recapture risk. Familiarity with Power BI, SQL, or Python for data preparation and reporting. Familiarity or experience with utilizing artificial intelligence to create efficient workflows or applications. Professional certifications such as Licentiate or Associateship of the Insurance Institute of India, ARM, RIMS-CRMP, CPCU, or ACII, completed or in progress, are viewed favourably.
