Senior Manager – AI & Data, Cloud & Generative AI (Japan Market Focus)

Position Summary

Level: Senior Manager

As a Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting, you will be responsible for overall technical delivery as part of large-scale software solutions at enterprise level. You will lead functional and technical teams on the project located across shores guiding and mentoring junior team members and collaborating to understand the functional requirements. You will respond to new sales or proposals and support end-to-end delivery of the project along with estimations and planning.

You will be responsible for managing the design, development, and deployment of large-scale system implementations at an enterprise level. You will be responsible for independently managing the team and guiding team members at different levels through their career path, work through technical leads across shores to manage implementation of the functional requirements and implement them on platforms like Guidewire and Majesco. You will own the end-to-end delivery of the project from estimations, planning, and execution. You would also be responsible for managing the status and end to end delivery of the final product.

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead client delivery, AI governance orchestration, and go-to-market activities across AI & Data, Cloud, and Generative AI engagements, with a specific focus on Japan-market and clients. This role combines hands-on delivery and architectural leadership with business development and advisory responsibility - requiring fluency in Japanese, prior exposure working in Japan, and the ability to bridge CAIO/CIO-level strategic agendas on Advice & Implementation of Data Modernization on cloud along with Scaled AI adoption.

What You'll Do

AI-Driven Modernization & Delivery

• Deliver on AI-driven modernization and build enterprise data utilization foundations through cloud lift-and-transform initiatives.
• Provide design, architecture, and delivery expertise on Snowflake and/or Databricks platforms as part of modernization engagements.
• Drive engineering teams to accelerate and scale prototyping, moving PoCs into production-grade delivery.
• Champion upfront investment in AI PoCs to build organizational momentum for broader enterprise implementation.
• Showcase engineering SME and conduct hands-on workshops across App Modernization, Data Engineering, AI/ML Platform Design, AI Use Case Prioritization, Legacy Exits, Quality Engineering, and DevSecOps.
  
  

AI Governance & Enterprise Strategy

• Partner with cross-Op groups to advise on AI governance and Trusted & Secure AI assessments, shaping the broader technology roadmap.
• Maintain strong command on AI & data governance, secure AI adoption practices, and data platform modernization principles.
• Align technology modernization initiatives with business priorities, scaling AI adoption across the Group/enterprise.
  
  

Use Case Identification & Business Enablement

• Lead AI use case identification, requirements definition, and implementation across both business and corporate functions.
• Orchestrate workshop supports connecting the CAIO/CIO agenda with feasible, prioritized use cases.
• Lead workshops on AI-based Business Process Reengineering (BPR), Physical AI business opportunities
  
  

Tech Sales Leadership & Client Advisory

• Drive and promote Deloitte's AI implementation capabilities directly to clients
• Lead and enable technology-led sales pursuits, RFP responses, and solutioning for AI & Data / Cloud / GenAI opportunities
• Bring forth perspectives on Global Delivery Pods, Forward deployment Engineers (FDE Pods ), Staff Augmentation methodologies to shape delivery archetypes
• Act as a trusted technical/business advisor in client discussions, bridging technical teams and Japanese business stakeholders with cultural and linguistic fluency
  
  

Capability & Practice Building

• Contribute to the firm's AI & Data / GenAI offering development, including industry use cases, accelerators, and reusable IP.
• Mentor and upskill delivery teams, particularly around AI/Cloud/GenAI delivery and Japan market readiness.
• Represent the practice in internal and external forums, alliance partner sessions, and thought leadership initiatives.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• 12-15+ years of experience in technology consulting, with at least 4–5 years focused on AI/ML, Data platforms, Cloud, and/or Generative AI.
• Demonstrated experience working on client engagements in Japan or with Japanese clients (onshore, offshore, or hybrid delivery models).
• Business-level or native fluency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or above strongly preferred) and professional fluency in English.
• Hands-on design/architecture and delivery expertise on Snowflake and/or Databricks.
• Proven experience establishing or operating within an AI Center of Excellence, including AI governance frameworks and enterprise AI roadmaps.
• Strong knowledge of AI & data governance, secure/trusted AI adoption assessments, and data platform modernization on cloud
• Demonstrated experience leading technology-led sales pursuits, proposal development, and client pitches.
• Experience with Global Delivery Pod, FDE Pod, or Staff Augmentation delivery models and contract structuring.
• Measurable growth/uplift in sales team win rates for Japan Market on tech-led (AI & Data, GenAI) pursuits through enablement and reusable assets.
• PoC-to-production conversion rate demonstrating sustained AI implementation momentum.
• Strong internal reputation as the bridge between CAIO/CIO strategic agendas and feasible delivery.
• Strong understanding of enterprise AI architecture patterns: agentic AI, RAG/GraphRAG, knowledge graphs, MCP-based integrations, LLM governance frameworks.
• Strong executive communication skills - able to build and deliver C-suite (CAIO/CIO)-ready narratives connecting strategy to feasible use cases.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior expatriate assignment or extended engagement based in Japan.
• Experience in Physical AI strategy, including GTM, capability acquisition, and manufacturing/procurement strategy.
• Experience in financial services, manufacturing, or other Japan-heavy industry verticals.
• Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) or AI/ML specializations.
• Experience designing human-agent mixed business processes or leading AI-based BPR workshops.
