Technical Project Manager

Role Summary

The SAP TM Technical Project Manager will lead end-to-end delivery of SAP Transportation Management (TM) implementations and transformations. The role combines strong SAP TM functional understanding, technical integration expertise, and project/program management leadership across multi-vendor, multi-geo teams.

The individual will act as the single point of accountability for scope, timelines, quality, and stakeholder management while ensuring seamless integration with SAP S/4HANA, EWM, GTS, and external logistics systems.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Project Management

Own end-to-end delivery of SAP TM projects (Implementations, Rollouts, Enhancements)

Define project scope, milestones, delivery plans, and governance models

Manage onshore–offshore teams, vendors, and system integrators

Track risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans

Ensure delivery adherence to cost, quality, and timelines

SAP TM Functional & Technical Leadership

Lead SAP TM Solution Design Covering

Freight Order Management

Transportation Planning & Execution

Carrier Selection & Settlement

Charge Calculation & Freight Costing

Guide teams on SAP TM–S/4HANA integration

Oversee TM Integration With

SAP EWM

SAP GTS

SAP ERP / S/4

External TMS, LSP, and carrier systems

Integration & Technical Oversight

Oversee Technical Design And Execution For

IDocs, APIs, RFCs, BAPIs

SAP PI/PO or SAP CPI

Event-based integrations and tracking

Ensure performance, scalability, and security best practices

Review technical designs, custom developments, and enhancements

Stakeholder & Client Management

Act as primary client-facing leader

Drive steering committee meetings and executive updates

Translate business needs into SAP TM solutions

Manage change requests and scope control

Quality, Testing & Go-Live

Oversee

SIT, UAT, Regression testing

Cutover planning

Go-Live & Hypercare

Ensure documentation, knowledge transfer, and support readiness

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

10+ years of SAP experience with strong SAP TM focus

5+ years in Project / Program Management roles

Hands-on experience in SAP TM implementations

Strong understanding of logistics, transportation, and supply chain

Proven experience managing large, complex SAP programs

Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills

Technical Skills

SAP TM (Planning, Execution, Settlement)

SAP S/4HANA integration

SAP CPI / PI/PO

IDocs, APIs, RFCs

Exposure to SAP EWM / GTS

Understanding of cloud & hybrid landscapes (preferred)

Project Management

Agile / Hybrid / Waterfall delivery models

Strong governance & reporting

Risk and dependency management

Nice-to-Have

SAP TM Certification

PMP / PRINCE2 / SAFe certification

Experience in global logistics, manufacturing, or retail clients

Exposure to SAP Activate methodology
