Role Overview

The Senior Manager/Associate Director of New Product Planning (NPP) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the India Affiliate is strategically positioned to achieve its ‘Reach & Scale’ goals. This involves setting clear priorities, driving innovation, and advocating for affiliate needs from the earliest stages of new product development. The role is central to shaping research and development strategies across multiple therapeutic areas, including Cardio-Metabolic Health, Oncology, Immunology, and CNS. The role primarily entails leveraging clinical, economic, and market data to influence areas of interest, unmet need, and commercial opportunity for portfolio and development of asset strategy in collaboration with various functions to define asset profiles including key elements of product differentiation, pricing, placement, and value proposition.

This individual will build strong collaborations with global NPP and development teams, as well as regional stakeholders in Medical, PRA, Finance, Regulatory, and other functions, to define an optimal portfolio tailored to the India market. She/He will lead strategic initiatives to uncover cross-therapy insights, consolidate feedback from key hubs and affiliates, and work closely with payer marketers to assess market access opportunities and challenges. Additionally, they will partner with colleagues at Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) to guide clinical study design, focusing on endpoints, comparators, and target patient populations.

Beyond planning, the role also involves working with cross-functional teams to identify early opportunities for shaping the market and environment, developing go-to-market strategies—including potential partnerships—and aligning resources effectively.

  • Strategic Asset Prioritization: Evaluate and prioritize Phase 2/3 molecules for the India market based on disease burden, regulatory feasibility, and commercial viability.

Collaborate with medical CRPs ( Clinical Research Physician) and other key medical teammates to understand disease, product profile, study design, and lifecycle plan.
  • Global Collaboration & Feedback Integration: Lead India’s participation in global asset evaluations (“dives”), synthesize affiliate feedback, and ensure alignment with global and local leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Enablement: Utilize NPP training modules and dashboards to educate internal stakeholders. Leverage tools like Power BI to monitor regulatory milestones and market readiness.
  • Market & Stakeholder Insights: Develop deep expertise in regional market dynamics, competitive pipelines, and stakeholder needs—including patients, physicians, and payers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively involve key affiliates and regions in development processes, consolidating their insights to shape asset profiles for India and value propositions that reflect global customer needs.
  • Discovery & Early Phase Influence: Collaborate with senior leadership in discovery and early development to guide strategic priorities, resource allocation, and portfolio decisions.
