As a Director of Product Management, you will operate as an entrepreneur within Optum Insight, owning 0→1 product ideas, driving strategy, defining requirements, and leading the delivery of breakthrough healthcare products. You will serve as the Voice of the Customer, using data, research, and insights to shape product direction and solve high‑value problems.

 

You will collaborate with engineering, data science, research, operations, and internal Optum/UHC partners to bring new products from concept to launch and beyond.

 

You will be joining the Risk Adjustment team– Analytics & Reporting product team that are responsible for Data, Analytics, AI and Reporting products within the Prospective @ Retrospective Risk Adjustment portfolio. Risk Adjustment products and services manage the yearly cycle of suspecting the health of over 47 million US lives, for multiple Payers and Providers, with analytics and AI, scheduling visits to primary care providers for full clinical assessment, submitting the most complete and current health record to CMS and the associated assessment budgeting and financial forecasting.

We are looking for a Director of Product Management, to join our group of product professionals to manage a suite of products, leading a team of product managers and product owners in operating, managing and enhancing existing products, validating new product opportunities or modify/decommission existing products/features.

 

Our group collaborates closely with Business SMEs, Marketing and Sales, Finance, Operations, Data Scientists, Analysts and Engineering, you will serve as the voice of the customer and subject matter expert for business and functional partners.

 

The role requires excellent listening, communication, influencing, organization, documentation, and presentation skills, and positive energy. You must be able to identify, facilitate, and drive a business solution to completion, along with the technical competency and business acumen to ensure the correct outcome.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Define long and short term product/portfolio strategies, identify market needs, define product performance indicators, managing build, launch and operational financials, whilst overseeing all stages of the product lifecycle (Ideate, Define, Build, Launch, Manage, Sunset) to ensure product delivery by ensuring that solutions are defined with high-value requirements, compelling business cases, clear product positioning, and a clear priority order
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Client Implementation teams to identify and prioritize product opportunities that drive business growth and customer satisfaction. Performing or commissioning market research activities to validate the opportunity
  • Work with senior leadership to communicate product strategy, vision, goals, roadmap, and performance. Ensure material used for weekly and monthly reporting of progress is up to date and accurate
  • Lead teams of product managers and product owners to ensure that product goals and initiatives have been deconstructed into features and four sprints worth of groomed user’s stories (a healthy backlog) that can executed by the scrum teams
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • Degree or higher in a in a Business, Healthcare, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent practical experience
  • 15+ years of total experience with 10+ years in Product Management
  • Experience presenting to senior stakeholders and customers and collaborating with multi-functional teams ensuring the communication and tracking of cross-functional team dependencies
  • Experience in product strategy or business development either in a strategy organization or new business
  • Experience working within an Agile software development practices and methodologies
  • Experience collaboratively with cross functional teams business SMEs, engineers, data scientists and analysts
  • Experience using AI to facilitate everyday product processes and incorporating AI features into a product
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering large, complex, multi-stakeholder products and managing teams of product managers and product owners
  • Proven structured thinker who can manage ambiguity, define a product direction and prioritization in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Proven independently motivated to identify and take the steps necessary to understand the businesses, customer needs, and technologies across a variety of customer personas and product categories

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Product Ownership (CSPO or PSPO)
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) or other relevant certifications
  • Product Management training and\or certification
  • Healthcare experience, preferably US healthcare insurance with the risk adjustment business domain
  • Delivery management tools experience: Aha, Rally, Miro or similar
  • Experience working on cloud-based, enterprise applications with analytic\AI components
  • Good technical understanding of AI\ML, cloud-based architectures, data engineering, automated UAT and modern software development life cycles to constructively challenge technical approaches and decisions as needed
  • MS Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Copilot)
