This role is ideal for aspiring teachers, recent graduates, or experienced education professionals who thrive in a fast:paced classroom setting and possess the classroom presence necessary to inspire students.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, your primary responsibility is to maintain a stable and focused learning environment during the short:term absence of teaching staff. You will not be required to plan lessons or grade assignments; instead, you will facilitate pre:prepared work and ensure students remain on task.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Management: Supervise students aged 11:18, ensuring they follow academy behaviour policies and remain engaged with their learning.
  • Instructional Support: Deliver pre:set lesson content across various subjects, providing clarity and assistance where needed.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate registers and provide constructive feedback to departments regarding student progress and behaviour.
  • Wider Academy Life: Assist with lunchtime supervision, form registration, and support various departments during non:cover periods.

About You

We are looking for someone who can balance a firm approach with an empathetic understanding of student needs.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Educated to A:Level standard or equivalent (Degree preferred).
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Adaptability: A quick:thinker who can manage shifting priorities throughout the school day.
  • Resilience: A calm, professional manner and a good sense of humour are essential for navigating the challenges of a secondary school environment.
