Job Description
At Franklin Templeton, we believe success is built through powerful partnerships. As a forward‑thinking asset manager, we build dynamic relationships with clients, understand their goals, and navigate complex markets together. We leverage cutting‑edge strategies and deep insights to unlock opportunities for long‑term wealth creation. Our talented, global teams bring expertise that is both broad and unique.
From our welcoming, inclusive, and supportive culture to our globally diverse business, we offer opportunities not only to help you reach your potential, but also to contribute to our clients’ success.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Supervisor to lead our FX Operations team. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in foreign exchange operations, including FX spot, forwards and non-deliverable forwards (NDFs), along with proven leadership skills.
The role involves overseeing trade validation and confirmation, lifecycle management and settlements, ensuring accurate and timely processing within market and currency-specific cut-offs. The Supervisor will be responsible for managing daily delivery, strengthening operational controls, developing team members and driving process improvements while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Operational Oversight: Supervise and mentor a team of analysts, allocate workloads and ensure adequate coverage for processing deadlines and settlement cut-offs. Provide training, performance feedback and development opportunities, while maintaining clear ownership and accountability.
- FX Trade Validation & Confirmation: Oversee the validation and confirmation of FX transactions, ensuring accuracy of trade economics, including currency pairs, amounts, exchange rates, value dates and counterparty details. Ensure unmatched or unconfirmed trades are investigated and escalated promptly.
- Trade Lifecycle Management: Manage amendments, cancellations, maturities, rollovers, FX nettings, NDF fixings and settlements.
- Payments & Settlement Oversight: Oversee timely and accurate FX settlements, including CLS and non-CLS settlement processes where applicable. Ensure payments follow approved standing settlement instructions (SSIs), verification and authorisation controls, currency-specific cut-offs and relevant holiday calendars.
- Settlement Fails & Exception Management: Monitor failed settlements, payment discrepancies, outstanding confirmations and other processing exceptions. Coordinate resolution with counterparties and internal teams, escalate material or ageing issues and address recurring root causes to reduce operational risk and financial exposure.
- Operational Controls & Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal policies, segregation of duties, approval requirements and applicable regulatory obligations. Maintain accurate procedures and audit evidence, support control reviews and audits, and track corrective actions through to completion.
- Process Improvement & Performance Reporting: Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual intervention and improve processing accuracy. Use Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate, where appropriate, to support automation and reporting. Monitor service levels, settlement performance, outstanding breaks and processing errors to identify improvement priorities.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Client Service: Partner with clients, trading desks, Risk, Compliance, Technology, banks and counterparties to resolve queries and support effective FX operations. Provide timely updates on issues, business impact and resolution progress, ensuring clear handovers across shifts.
- Experience: 6–9 years of experience in financial services, with strong exposure to FX trade operations, confirmations and settlements.
- FX Product & Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of FX spot, forwards and NDFs, including trade lifecycles, fixing requirements, value-date conventions, currency holidays and settlement cut-offs.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to supervise teams, manage daily delivery and performance, develop team members and prioritise effectively during peak volumes and time-critical situations.
- Risk & Control Awareness: Sound understanding of operational and settlement risks, payment controls, settlement instruction verification, exception management and escalation requirements.
- Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with FX trade processing and confirmation platforms, SWIFT messaging, CLS processes, payment systems and reconciliation tools is advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate preferred.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage client queries, resolve disagreements constructively and communicate issues clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Organisational & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong attention to detail, prioritisation, and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
- Shift Flexibility: Ability to work rotational shifts to support global operations and ensure effective coverage across markets and time zones.
