Come build advanced software capabilities to accelerate our digital transformation and support Lillys evolution to be the leader in Pharma-tech! THE ROLE The Software Product Engineering (SPE) organization is actively looking for a motivated Lead Consultant – QE (P3) who is equally passionate about technical excellence and people-centric leadership. This role sits at the intersection of hands-on quality engineering and functional team leadership — you will not just define and execute test strategies, but also grow and guide the people delivering them. Are you a quality advocate who can drive change, influence teams, and develop engineering talent? Do you thrive at the crossroads of technical innovation and organizational impact? Do you have a passion for shaping Lillys direction to become a leader in Pharma-tech? If so, please apply. WHAT YOULL BE DOING In this role, you will lead and develop a team of Quality Engineers while ensuring that Digital Health and patient-facing applications meet the highest quality standards. You will balance hands-on technical contributions with functional responsibilities — owning team performance, delivery commitments, and talent development alongside test strategy, automation architecture, and quality advocacy. Success requires strong leadership presence, technical depth, effective stakeholder communication, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, global, cross-functional Agile environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES People Leadership & Team Development ▪ Leads, manages, and grows a team of QE engineers — setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance reviews. ▪ Owns team delivery commitments, resource planning, and capacity management across multiple concurrent projects. ▪ Identifies skill gaps within the team and creates development plans, training opportunities, and stretch assignments to accelerate growth. ▪ Fosters an inclusive, psychologically safe team culture where engineers are empowered to innovate and take ownership. ▪ Partners with HR and senior leadership on hiring, onboarding, and talent retention strategies. Functional Delivery & Stakeholder Management ▪ Serves as the primary QE point of contact for product owners, engineering leads, and business stakeholders — communicating quality status, risk, and delivery outlook. ▪ Manages end-to-end quality delivery for assigned programmes, including test planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and sign-off. ▪ Contributes to quarterly planning and roadmap discussions, representing quality engineering priorities and trade-offs. ▪ Tracks and reports on key quality metrics, defect trends, automation ROI, and team productivity indicators. ▪ Drives cross-functional alignment on quality standards, acceptance criteria, and release readiness gates. Technology Leadership & Technical Depth ▪ Serves as a key contributor across quality engineering technologies, test automation frameworks, and software testing methodologies. ▪ Demonstrates a strong understanding of architectural patterns for scalable and maintainable test automation. ▪ Proactively learns and applies new tools, techniques, and programming languages such as Go, Rust, JavaScript, Python, or other OOP languages. ▪ Develops and maintains CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated tests to support continuous testing and deployment. Test Automation & Quality Engineering ▪ Leads the design of robust, scalable, and maintainable test automation frameworks for web, mobile, API, and backend testing. ▪ Contributes to AI-based application testing, including LLM evaluation and validation using RAGAS and related frameworks. ▪ Implements performance and load testing strategies using JMeter to ensure system reliability and scalability. ▪ Drives cloud-based testing initiatives, utilizing AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker for managing test environments. Process Improvement & Quality Advocacy ▪ Champions quality process improvements and ensures the team understands the trade-offs and benefits of various testing approaches. ▪ Advocates for shift-left testing and encourages early-stage test automation to prevent defects in development cycles. ▪ Implements best practices in quality engineering, ensuring testing processes align with industry standards and compliance requirements. ▪ Promotes a quality-first mindset across engineering and product teams, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability are prioritised. Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing ▪ Supports and mentors junior and mid-level QA engineers, providing guidance on test automation, performance testing, and CI/CD integration. ▪ Encourages a culture of continuous learning, actively sharing insights, knowledge, and industry trends with the team. ▪ Reviews test automation architectures, frameworks, and scripts, ensuring best practices are followed. Innovation & Thought Leadership ▪ Promotes and implements new and innovative testing approaches, driving advancements in AI-driven test automation, model evaluation, and cloud testing. ▪ Explores and integrates cutting-edge testing technologies such as AI-based testing frameworks, self-healing automation, and autonomous testing solutions. ▪ Contributes to the broader SPE QE community of practice — sharing learnings, patterns, and tools across teams. Agile & DevOps Collaboration ▪ Ensures seamless integration of test automation within CI/CD pipelines, supporting continuous delivery and deployment. ▪ Participates in and facilitates Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and defect triaging. ▪ Works closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring testing strategies align with business objectives and release cycles. REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS ▪ Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. ▪ 12+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a high-tech, life sciences, or related field. ▪ 3+ years in a functional people management role — leading, developing, and performance-managing QE teams. ▪ Proven ability to manage team delivery, stakeholder relationships, and cross-functional programme commitments. ▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. ▪ Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a passion for continuous learning and improvement. ▪ Hands-on experience with pytest, WebdriverIO, Selenium, and Appium. ▪ Expertise in AI/ML testing and model evaluation. ▪ Strong experience in test strategy building and test planning. ▪ Proficiency in Java / JavaScript / TypeScript / Python. ▪ Strong understanding of cloud computing and containerised testing (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker). ▪ Experience in GitHub, JIRA, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ▪ Experience with RAGAs, DeepEval, and LangChain frameworks for model evaluation. ▪ Experience in multi-region software testing. ▪ Knowledge of security and compliance testing in regulated environments. ▪ Experience working in a matrix organisation with distributed or offshore teams. ▪ Exposure to workforce planning, hiring, and talent strategy in an engineering context.
