The Role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 3 – 7 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically in automation machinery for the food industry, packaging, and life sciences verticals. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of automation technologies and trends, and be proficient in SolidWorks, Inventor, and PDM. Prior experience with Body-in-White (BIW) systems in the automotive industry and proficiency in NX CAD and Teamcenter will be added advantage. This position will require travel to other Convergix global sites which could include the US, UK and EU.

This position reports to manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Complex Mechanism Design
  
  

Expertise in designing high-speed servo pick-and-place systems, robotics, and intricate mechanisms.

• Mechanical System Design
  
  

Ability to design systems involving pneumatics, mechanical drives, kinematic principles, sensors, motors, and servo applications.

• Engineering Calculations
  
  

Strong capability to perform calculations for force, movement, energy, and timing analysis.

• Material Handling & Integration
  
  

Design and integrate material handling systems, conveyors, AGVs/AMRs, and robotic tooling.

• Software Proficiency
  
  

Advanced skills in SolidWorks , NX and PDM; Autodesk Inventor preferred.

• Standards & Compliance
  
  

Exposure to North American standards and compliance with industry regulations (GAMP 5 advantageous).

• Collaboration & Communication
  
  

Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and clear communication of project status, risks, and scope.

• Custom Automation Solutions
  
  

Ability to provide bespoke design solutions for custom-built automated machinery.

Essential

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: BE or B. Tech in Mechanical/Mechatronics (Avoid Diploma/Distance & Correspondence Candidates).
• Industry Experience: Minimum 3 to 7 years in mechanical design, specifically in automation machinery for the food industry, packaging and life sciences verticals.
• Key Skills: BIW fixture design, Assembly automation and integrated systems, robotic systems, custom machine design & manufacturing,
• Software: SolidWorks, Inventor, NX and PDM
  
  

Desirable

• VISA: Candidates holding valid visas for the location (USA, UK, and Canada) are highly recommended.
  
  

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
