The Desktop Support Engineer provides hands-on IT support to employees, including laptop provisioning, new joiner onboarding, device setup and handover, IT asset management, meeting room support, printer and peripheral troubleshooting, hardware repairs and replacements, stock management, shipping, and returns. The role requires a customer-focused individual who can troubleshoot day-to-day IT issues, maintain accurate asset records, ensure devices are ready for new employees, and coordinate with internal IT teams, vendors, depots, and facilities to deliver reliable IT support.
Job Requirements
Provide onsite IT support for employees, resolving day-to-day hardware, software, and access issues.
Prepare, configure, provision, and hand over laptops and IT equipment for new joiners.
Support employee onboarding by ensuring devices, accounts, Microsoft 365 applications, and required business applications are ready for use.
Support employee offboarding by collecting IT assets and updating inventory records and coordinate with IT depot for reimaging.
Maintain accurate inventory of laptops, monitors, docking stations, peripherals, printers, meeting room devices, and other IT assets.
Manage laptop lifecycle activities including stock monitoring, repairs, replacements, warranty claims, shipping, returns, and vendor coordination.
Troubleshoot Windows laptops, Microsoft 365, VPN, Wi-Fi, network connectivity, printers, peripherals, and standard business applications.
Provide support for meeting rooms, including Teams/Zoom conferencing systems, displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, and presentation connectivity.
Perform routine health checks of meeting room equipment to ensure it is fully operational.
Install, configure, and support network printers and resolve printing and scanning issues.
Ensure laptops and IT devices comply with security standards, including encryption, endpoint protection, and software updates.
Record, update, and resolve support tickets with clear documentation, escalating issues to the appropriate teams when required.
Maintain IT support documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles.
Job Responsibilities
Minimum 3 years of experience in Desktop Support, End User Computing, IT Service Desk, or a similar onsite IT support role.
Hands-on experience with laptop provisioning, onboarding/offboarding, asset management, device lifecycle management, and supporting Microsoft Teams meeting room technologies.
Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, laptop hardware, software installation, and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi, network connectivity, printers, scanners, docking stations, monitors, headsets, and other office IT equipment.
Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, or similar endpoint management tools, with familiarity in ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk, or equivalent.
Strong troubleshooting, customer service, and communication skills with the ability to effectively support non-technical users.
Well-organized with the ability to manage IT assets, prioritize workload, maintain documentation, and collaborate effectively with global IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
