Job Description

We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented **Sales Manager** to join our dynamic team in Chennai, India. In this pivotal role, you'll be the driving force behind our catering and small group events business, serving as the primary point of contact for clients from initial inquiry through successful event execution. This position is ideal for a customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional service while achieving ambitious revenue targets.

**Client Relationship Management**

  • Serve as the primary sales contact for all catering events and small group bookings, building and maintaining strong relationships with local clients and repeat partners
  • Conduct site inspections, tastings, and comprehensive planning meetings to understand and exceed client expectations
  • Respond promptly to inquiries, prepare detailed proposals, and negotiate contracts with professionalism and transparency
  • Anticipate client needs and provide proactive solutions to ensure satisfaction and loyalty

**Event Coordination and Execution**

  • Plan and manage all aspects of catering events and social functions, from initial concept through post-event follow-up
  • Collaborate seamlessly with culinary, operations, and front office teams to ensure flawless event execution
  • Manage critical event details including menu customization, audiovisual requirements, room setup, and guest logistics
  • Monitor events on the day of execution, communicate changes efficiently, and resolve issues decisively

**Sales and Revenue Management**

  • Achieve or exceed assigned revenue targets for catering and group segments through strategic sales efforts
  • Identify and capitalize on upselling opportunities, including menu enhancements and premium service offerings
  • Prepare accurate event orders, banquet event orders (BEOs), and group resumes in a timely manner
  • Manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure all billing and post-event follow-up are handled promptly and accurately

**Collaboration and Continuous Improvement**

  • Represent our organization's standards of excellence and personalized service in every client interaction
  • Partner with the sales and revenue management teams to drive local business growth and market expansion
  • Contribute to departmental meetings and special projects that support operational excellence and innovation
  • Provide feedback and insights to help refine processes and enhance the overall client experience

Qualifications

**Required Qualifications**

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in catering, conference services, event management, or related hospitality field
  • Proven ability to manage multiple events simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients
  • Proficiency in event management software systems (such as Opera, Delphi, or similar platforms)
  • Demonstrated sales acumen with a track record of achieving or exceeding revenue targets
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to service excellence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a results-oriented mindset
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills

**Preferred Qualifications**

  • Experience in luxury hospitality or upscale catering environments
  • Knowledge of menu planning, culinary offerings, and food and beverage operations
  • Familiarity with budget management and financial forecasting
  • Experience with proposal writing and contract negotiation
  • Certification in event management or hospitality sales
  • Proficiency with customer relationship management (CRM) systems
  • Bilingual capabilities (English and local language proficiency)
