Overall Purpose of The Job

  • Grow Procurement capability in key locations with focus on strong supply chain compliance consistent with Company Quality, Policies and Procedures. Ensure flawless service delivery to all stakeholders by implementation and maintenance of Global Service Level Agreements. Use digital tools to analyse data, monitor and report on supply chain performance. Track Procurement behaviours and pro-actively implement training and improvement measures in line with Group continual improvement goals. Support Vessels budget commitments through the adoption of Global strategic procurement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

  • Support the Business, Group Technical and Global Fleet Procurement to achieve the strategic goals, acting as positive ambassador within function and externally to other stakeholders
  • Drive Supply Chain compliance within function, fleet cell and vessel using leading and lagging indicators to actively improve performance and mitigate risk
  • Create and maintain customer service culture through internal stakeholder engagement, reporting, feedback and resolution loop
  • Ensure Procurement function remains cost effective through the adoption and development of digital and process efficiencies
  • Supervise Fleet Procurement function and ensure effective escalation routes are available for urgent or problematic requirements
  • Monitor system to ensure high profile, fast track and urgent requisitions are being prioritized and Purchase invoices are being authorized and processed in line with Business expectations
  • Act as Super User for ShipSure Procurement and demonstrate system to client, suppliers or third-party customers as required
  • Interrogate system to ensure records, reports and analysis of fleet purchases are properly maintained and available as required, ensuring a consistent standard in line with V.Ships policies and Client reporting requirements
  • Co-ordinate appropriate cover to ensure all purchasing matters are dealt with in an effective and timely manner in the absence of the assigned Fleet Procurement Officer
  • Provide and/or obtain necessary authorisation for fast track and over budget items
  • Implement and maintain the use of approved Contracted and Group suppliers, and build effective methods to gather and report on their performance
  • Conduct internal audits and take proactive measures to address areas for improvement
  • Commit to travel for Customer visits, industry events and Business workshops as and when required
  • Manage and drive KPI and SLA compliance
  • Create and publish daily, weekly and monthly reports as necessary, conduct performance review meetings with stakeholders as per agreed calendar/timelines
  • Effectively manage efficiency and performance of Team Members, drive knowledge, motivation and retention in the teams
  • Working to shift pattern may be necessary depending on location and team allocation

Essential

  • 5-7 years-experience in a Marine Purchasing role
  • Some years-experience in a senior , Team Leader or manager role specifically in a growth cycle
  • Strong communication skills demonstrated through excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with people both inside and outside the Company
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including effective management of resources
  • Assertive with a pro-active and can-do approach to work

Desirable

  • Recognised Marine Procurement qualification
  • Recognised Marine Technical qualification
  • Experience at Sea
