Senior Lead Software Engineer

About the Role

We’re looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to own and scale the core backend systems powering our products. In this role, you’ll lead a small backend team, make critical architectural decisions, and work closely with product to ship reliable, high-impact features. You’ll balance hands-on development with technical leadership, ensuring our systems remain scalable, observable, and resilient as we grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of backend services operating at high throughput and scale.
• Build and maintain core transactional systems and platforms.
• Partner closely with product managers to define scope, prioritize initiatives, and deliver the features end to end.
• Set and enforce backend architecture standards, code quality, and testing best practices.
• Own project delivery with a focus on scalability, reliability, and measurable business outcomes.
• Drive operational excellence by improving observability, monitoring, and system reliability.
• Continuously optimize performance, resilience, and developer workflows to enable faster, safer releases.
• Mentor and guide backend engineers, supporting technical growth and execution quality.

Key Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building backend systems in production environments.
• 2–3 years of experience as a tech lead or backend lead, owning delivery and mentoring engineers.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Golang and Python.
• Proven experience building and operating high-scale systems.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, API design, and relational / non-relational databases.
• Experience working closely with product teams to ship consumer-facing (B2C) applications.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and stakeholders.
