Job Summary

The Internal Controls Analyst, based in our Global Capability Center (GCC), will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the General Ledger across our EMEA region. You will act as a bridge between the local accounting teams and global finance leadership, standardizing reconciliation processes and mitigating financial reporting risks. The successful candidate will drive process efficiency, support internal controls, and collaborate closely with regional finance teams across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control Framework & Compliance
  • Design and maintain an Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework specifically for GL accounts.
  • Ensure all reconciliations comply with GAAP and local statutory requirements.
  • Perform periodic "deep-dive" audits of high-risk accounts (e.g., Intercompany, Suspense, and Accruals).
  • Global GL Reconciliation Oversight
  • Standardize the reconciliation templates and frequency across all four geographies to ensure consistency.
  • Monitor the global reconciliations dashboard to ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations.
  • Risk Mitigation & Issue Resolution
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve aging "open items" that exceed the corporate threshold.
  • Partner with the IT and ERP teams to automate manual reconciliations and reduce the risk of human error.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on recurring variances and implement corrective action plans.
  • Stakeholder Management & Training
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors regarding GL control testing.
  • Provide training to regional accountants on best practices for quality documentation and "re-performance" standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-6 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
  • Previous experience working in a Global Capability Center (GCC), Shared Services, or a multinational environment is a strong plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • An understanding of accounting principles and standards, such as GAAP or IFRS.
  • Attention to detail is crucial to ensure accuracy and prevent errors or discrepancies in financial information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to identify the root cause of problems, propose solutions to corrective actions.
  • Able to convey complex financial information clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work independently and with others, to contribute to team goals.
  • Must maintain high ethical standards, meet confidentiality requirements, to ensure the security and privacy of financial data.
  • Proficient in using accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial management tools.
