Role Summary
The Technical Project Manager / Project Manager will lead cross-functional engineering teams (Backend, Frontend, QA) to deliver high-quality software solutions using Agile or hybrid delivery models.
This role requires strong technical leadership in requirements understanding, estimation, delivery oversight, integration, and resolution of technical dependencies. The TPM will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and deployment teams to drive predictable and on-time delivery and serves as the primary delivery contact for customers and internal leadership.
The ideal candidate is outcome-driven, data-oriented, experienced in managing high-visibility client engagements with end-to-end accountability, and brings 10+ years of experience in developing and delivering Java-based projects, including at least 3 years of project management experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
• Understand business requirements and functional expectations.
• Ensure scope clarity and alignment before execution.
• Drive technical solution design and feasibility validations.
• Conduct daily scrums and proactively address deviations.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
• Identify constraints early and flag potential implementation risks.
Estimation & Planning
• Collaborate with engineering teams to:
o Break down features into technical tasks.
o Provide effort estimation and delivery timelines.
o Drive realistic sprint planning and milestone alignment.
o Track technical dependencies and delivery risks.
Delivery & Execution Ownership
• Monitor progress across Backend, Frontend, and QA streams.
• Ensure delivery within committed timelines and quality standards.
• Identify and remove blockers to maintain delivery velocity.
• Drive continuous improvement using Agile, SAFe, or hybrid frameworks.
Risk, Dependency & Governance Management
• Identify, track, and mitigate risks, dependencies, and critical-path items.
• Maintain RAID logs and escalate issues appropriately.
• Ensure delivery predictability and governance compliance.
Client & Stakeholder Management
• Serve as the primary delivery contact for customers and internal leadership.
• Lead reviews, steering committees, and delivery checkpoints.
• Manage communication, expectations, and relationship building.
• Maintain target CSAT ≥ 4.2 / 5.
Agile / Hybrid Delivery Execution
• Facilitate Agile/SAFe ceremonies across squads/teams.
• Drive sprint, release, PI planning, and delivery metric tracking.
• Oversee team capacity and workload distribution.
Financial Oversight & Operational Management
• Review, approve, submit timesheets. Support finance team for invoicing/payments.
• Manage project budgets, burn rates, utilization, and financial forecasting.
• Maintain budget variance within ±5%.
• Support contract reviews, SOW compliance, and financial reporting.
Primary Skills
• Hands-on experience in at least one backend technology: Java, Spring Boot, Python, Node.js, etc.
• Good understanding of frontend frameworks: React, Angular, etc.
• Strong estimation and delivery-management experience for complex projects.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
People Management / Team Management Skills
• Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate cross-functional teams (Backend, Frontend, QA).
• Strong focus on team cohesion, collaboration, and accountability.
• Experience resolving conflicts and fostering a positive work environment.
• Skilled in setting clear expectations, goals, and performance standards.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and support individual development plans.
• Expertise in capacity planning, workload balancing, and resource optimization.
• Ability to identify skill gaps and proactively drive hiring or upskilling.
Secondary Skills
• Understanding of SDLC, architectural concepts, and microservices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum and scaled Agile environments.
• Exposure to CI/CD processes, DevOps culture, and deployment workflows.
• Ability to guide teams in debugging, RCA, and performance considerations.
• Adept at cross-team collaboration and dependency coordination.
