Looking for a heavy diesel apprenticeship with Terra Cat?

It’s important to understand what you are applying for with an apprenticeship with Terra Cat. And our Work Experience Programme is a great way to get that understanding.

Our Work Experience Programme is designed to give you a good understanding of what it means to be a Terra employee, what’s expected of you as a Terra apprentice and what your future with us could look like as a qualified Heavy Diesel Technician.

You can apply to join our Work Experience Programme as a Gateway student from school or as a pre-trade student from a tertiary education provider. It may be that you attend Work Experience on a set day each week for a few weeks, or it may be that you come in for a full work week during a holiday period. We will try to accommodate what works for you.

What You Will Do

Duties will involve health & safety checks and contamination control, you will learn about our products, their components, and our tooling, you may complete pre-delivery inspections, you will assist senior technicians and you will complete administrative and learning tasks.

After completing work experience, you may be invited to apply for a Heavy Diesel Apprenticeship – Mobile Plant Technology with us, but work experience does not guarantee this. Please check out the Apprentice tab on the Careers Page of our website to see the criteria required to be considered for an apprenticeship.

It is likely our next apprentice intake will start in January 2027 but this and the locations for these have not been confirmed. Limited opportunities for work experience exist in most of our branch locations, so all applicants will go through a selection process.

Work Experience opportunities are open to NZ citizens and permanent residents only.
