The incumbent of this role is accountable for the end-to-end completion of the project.
The focus is on driving the areas of project performance in terms of cost, quality and safety, people management, liasoning with the stakeholders, reviewing the progress of the project and troubleshooting major issues which hinder the progress of their project.
The incumbent is expected to ensure the smooth execution of the project with best quality, timelines and minimum wastage by providing guidance to the project team.
The incumbent is expected to work with stakeholders in corporate office to provide accurate information as well as enable project / organisation level decision making on execution aspects.
The incumbent is also expected to identify opportunities for process optimization based on ground realities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Performance – Define the budget and scope of project in collaboration with senior management. Plan, review and approve the month-wise work plan for the entire team which identify the sequence of activities needed to successfully complete the project. Finalise and approve the estimates and plans for the requirement and optimisation of resources - time, money, manpower, equipment etc. for the project. Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the determined activities. Pre-determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at various stages and its completion. Manage the project cost by ensuring on time execution and meeting project standards. Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures.
Project Delivery – Review the project progress and identify the underlying deviations from the schedule. Ensure that the project deliverables are on time within budget and at the required level of quality and safety. Ensure the financial and people performance remain above certain set standards at all stages of project cycle. Liaison with the relevant authorities for necessary project approvals. Ensure adherence to all compliance as well as SOPs (standard operating processes) set by GRIL corporate office.
Stakeholder Management – Liaison with the client, consultant and relevant government officials to acquire necessary approvals. Apprise the team and senior management (Director – Operations and VP – Operations) about the project progress and request support for providing necessary inputs for smooth project execution. Work with VP – Operations to provide support on technical and contractual issues.
MIS & Reporting – Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders, including senior managers in the organisation on the progress of the project. Monitor the cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on regular basis.
People Management – Facilitate development and growth of direct and indirect reportees while keeping track of overall project employee engagement and attrition. Ensure all the employee grievances are handled in the appropriate manner.
Indicative Experience and Exposure
Graduate in (B.E./ B.Tech) Civil Engineering, preferably Post Graduation in Management/ Construction/ Transportation/ Highway Engineering/ Structural Engineering or equivalent specialized stream of Civil engineering.
Essential Software experience (MS Projects or Primavera).
Min 15 years of experience in handling road projects, rail, metro, high speed rail project.
