Engineer Network Services

This role requires a highly experienced and versatile network professional with a proven ability to design, document and implement complex solutions in an enterprise environment.  The Network Services Engineer will work in a global environment as part of a team delivering both new network services and incremental releases of an existing network service to meet the changing needs of the business whilst considering market trends/best practices within the IT landscape.

As an expert, this person will also be engaged in providing escalation support when required.

The candidate for this role should have the expert ability to develop functional and technical requirements, demonstrate advanced creative problem solving and the ability to effectively document and communicate solutions.

Initially, the focus will be on existing T&M network services and the overall integration of these into Emerson whilst maintaining current service levels.  Over time, you will move into the LAN Service team that is responsible for Emerson’s Managed Wired and Wireless Infrastructure at all our locations.
 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• To design, test, configure, implement, and support for specific network services, including but not limited to WAN, LAN, Wireless, Firewalling and Remote Access
• To participate in the Release Management Process for New Services and ongoing Service Feature releases to include, but not limited to:
  • Working in a cross-functional team to develop the service and required deliverables
  • Working with Service Delivery & Operations to train and hand over the service such that it can be delivered and supported consistently
• To participate in and apply the same Process for subsequent service releases as defined by the Service Roadmap
• As required, to work closely with Network Service Owners to evaluate specific engineering requirements and design, test, and document an optimal solution that can be operated in a globally consistent manner
• To engage vendor sales and technical contacts as required for knowledge and development of new/existing solutions
• To continuously evaluate the network marketplace and new vendor offerings such that these can be discussed and considered by the network team as we develop future strategy roadmaps

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Background in designing and implementing WAN and LAN solutions in an enterprise environment.
• Experience and knowledge of related network infrastructure components including firewalling and remote access.
• Experience working with business personnel to identify business challenges and providing solutions to those challenges
• Experience developing proposals, designing solutions based on proposals, and documenting associated risks
• Experience breaking down complex technical issues to deliver a fast solution to problem
• Strong understanding of process, to be able to follow process, improve, or create new process where it does not exist or may be beneficial.
• A minimum of ten (10) years’ networking experience to include the following:
  • Fortiswitch/Cisco/Juniper switching and routing experience
  • Firewalling both FortiGate and Palo Alto, ideally
  • Experience designing and implementing highly resilient networks
  • Experience working with a Manufacturing environment
