R&D PRODUCT Design and Development ENGINEER

Optical Interconnect BU:

New Product Developmentof Fiber Optic Products, IEC Rated Optical Enclosures, & Accessories

Role Purpose

Develop and Design portfolio of Innovative and competitive Optical Interconnect Smart Solution Products for Export to EU, USA, AU, NZ, APAC and Domestic Markets comprising of IEC Enclosures, and Fiber Optic Products & Accessories for FTTx Networks, Data Centers, Fiber Optics based Telecom Network Passive products for Outdoor and Indoor Applications

What the role entails

(Key Responsibilities) 

Product Development and Engineering Design of Precision IEC 65/67/68 rated Fiber Distribution and Management Enclosure Assemblies, and other associated Product Assemblies - Hands On

 Design innovative Engineering Grade Thermo Plastic Components, Sheet Metal Components, Rubber(Elastomers) Sealing Components, Machined Components and Standard Components for FTTX/ FTTH Network Outdoor and Indoor, Export and Domestic Market Applications – Hands On

Onsite study of customer’s pain points, challenges, and thereby develop Product Specifications, Product Design Concepts and convert them into working Product Design solutions – Hands On

Convert Customer requirements and Application requirements inputs into 3D Basic design concepts – Hands On

Generate Product Designs on 3D-CAD Software preferably CREO & SolidWorks Hands-On

Manage END TO END Prototype Development Activities including correct selection of Material, 3D Printing Processes, Assembly, Debug and testing Functions Hands-On

Generate professional Detail Designs of Integrated Assemblies comprising of Thermo Plastic Components, 2D Drawings including application of GDT call outs.

Release full-fledged Bill of Materials, Identify suppliers for procured components.

Define New Product Specifications, Product Testing, Qualification and Approval Processes

Perform DFM and collaborate with OEM suppliers

Fully co-ordinate and manage OEM Manufacturing phase after release of product designs and deliver the final assembled functional product.

Collaborate and manage Testing of Injection Molds onsite at OEMs and debug / trouble shoot or decide on product / mold corrections required to produce the right component.

Hands-on assemble the Product and debug functional issues through product modifications to produce the best Assembled product

Prepare Assembly Procedure Instruction Sheet and train OEM on the assembly procedures, checking, inspection and quality control aspects.

Collaborate and Hands on work with Third Party Test Labs and carry out IEC Based Product Qualification Testing including UV, Saline, Humidity, Thermal Ageing, Impact, Drop, IP65/67 and other required tests and ensure the designed product meets the testing requirements and gets qualified successfully and certified by Agency Labs.

Provide Training, prepare user instruction manuals and occasionally conduct onsite field trainings.

Prepare professional Intellectual Property Technical Write-up for filing and collaborate with Patent Professions to create final patent documentation for filing purposes.

What we are looking for in you

(Skills, Knowledge, Special Attributes, Mobility)

Experience in 3D & 2D CAD Solidworks & CREO Platforms and able to design complex shaped Plastic, Sheet-metal components, Elastomer Components and Machined Components based on Technical Standards, Product Specifications and Customer Requirements

Experience in Plastics Product Design, Mechanical Engineering Design, Elastomer-Seals and Selection of Standard Components from Suppliers Catalogues

Strong Experience of Design for Manufacture Principles for Plastics, Sheet-Metal, Elastomers and Machined Components.

Experience of 3D Printing of Plastic Products, Development of Prototypes using 3D Printing and other Rapid Prototype Processes.

Strong experience and knowledge of Material science including Plastics, Elastomers and advanced materials

Strong experience and knowledge of IEC Standards Product Testing and Qualification including UV, Saline, Humidity, Thermal Ageing, Impact, Drop, IP65/67 and other required tests and ensure the designed product meets the testing requirements and gets qualified successfully and certified by Agency Labs.

Hand-sketch Concept generation skills is added advantage

Hands on Assembling 3D Printed components and carrying out necessary fitment and correction activities to deliver the fully functional and working prototype.

Work with cross functional teams to consolidate requirements and deliverables on Product

Support teams on Product Testing & Qualification.

Onsite study of customer’s pain points, challenges, and requirements, thereby develop and incorporate solutions into the Product Design

Onsite Deployment of Newly Developed Products to see through end to end Product Development and final roll-out to field deployment team

Require Travelling by Road / Train and Air for quick response to developing situations during the span of Product Life Cycle.

Experience & Education

Minimum Qualifications & Critical Exposure to Perform the Job at the Optimum Level

Diploma / Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical Engineering

CRITICAL SKILLS: PROFICIENT AS ADVANCED USER ON SOLIDWORKS / CREO SOFTWARES

Master of Science / Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering

Masters in other Domains as applicable to New Product Development
