DESCRIPTION:

The Team Lead – Valuations Quality Control is responsible for leading a team of Quality Control Analysts who audit completed residential Appraisal Reports and Broker Price Opinions (BPOs). This role ensures that all valuation reports meet client requirements, investor guidelines, regulatory standards, and internal quality expectations before delivery.

 

The Team Lead is accountable for maintaining quality, productivity, turnaround times, and team performance while fostering continuous improvement through coaching, training, and process optimization.

 

This role will require the Team Lead to contribute to production. Hence, the resource needs to be open to contribute towards production goals and team management.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of QC Analysts.
  • Monitor daily workload and allocate assignments based on priorities and capacity.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
  • Provide constructive feedback and create development plans for team members.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure completed Appraisal Reports and Broker Price Opinions are audited accurately using established QC checklists.
  • Verify compliance with:
    • Client-specific guidelines
    • USPAP requirements
    • Agency and investor requirements (FNMA, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, etc., as applicable)
    • Internal quality standards
  • Review escalated or complex valuation reports.
  • Ensure all required corrections are communicated clearly to appraisers or production teams.
  • Monitor recurring quality issues and recommend corrective actions.

Operational Management

  • Track daily production, turnaround times, and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure work queues remain current and balanced.
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
  • Prepare productivity and quality reports for management.
  • Support capacity planning during volume fluctuations.

Performance Management

  • Monitor individual and team KPIs, including:
    • Audit accuracy
    • Productivity
    • Turnaround time
    • Error rates
    • Client escalations
  • Conduct quality calibrations with the QC team.
  • Develop action plans for underperforming team members.
  • Recognize and reward high performance.

Process Improvement

  • Identify trends in appraisal defects and recurring quality issues.
  • Recommend enhancements to QC checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and automation projects.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Training, and Technology teams to improve quality and efficiency.

Client & Stakeholder Support

  • Respond to internal quality inquiries and escalations.
  • Participate in client calibration sessions when required.
  • Ensure consistent application of client-specific requirements.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with production teams and stakeholders.

 

 

 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Graduate/MBA Degree
  • Excellent communication - Verbal & Written (US Exposure)
  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage valuations, appraisal review, or quality control.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Residential appraisal reports
    • Broker Price Opinions (BPOs)
    • Mortgage valuation processes
    • USPAP standards
    • Investor and client requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Experience working within production-driven operational environments.
  • Knowledge of appraisal management company (AMC) operations.
  • Experience with workflow management systems and QC platforms.
  • Lean Six Sigma or process improvement experience is a plus.
  •  Appraisal review expertise
