The program manager (PM) is ultimately responsible for ensuring the program meets the project cost, timing, and quality commitments. The program manager ensures effective communication, collaboration, and Cross-Functional Team alignment.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide program management for customer programs, serving as the program owner accountable for execution and success, including
- Overseeing product launches effectively by identifying, capturing, and mitigating risks throughout the program.
- Ensuring vigilant cost containment, avoidance, and reduction to achieve the programs financial targets.
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive communications plan.
Program Organization and Management
- Align programs with the organizations mission and goals.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure optimal communication.
- Manage a cross-functional team, driving cross-functional excellence and timely fulfillment of cross-functional team deliverables based on the PDP.
Risk Management
- Lead CFT to identify and assess program risks, and develop mitigation plans to address potential issues using the risk register.
- Lead CFT to review and update risk management strategies to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ensure proactive risk communication to stakeholders and senior management.
- Foresee and recognize program risks and opportunities, developing proactive solutions.
Problem Solving
- Utilize a methodical approach to task management and problem-solving.

- Monitor and adjust project schedules as necessary to accommodate changes and ensure on-time delivery.
- Coordinate with cross-functional team to ensure timely completion of tasks and milestones.
- Track and report on project progress, identifying any deviations from the plan and implementing corrective actions.
- Utilize project management tools and software to maintain accurate schedules and resource allocation.
- Ensure clear communication of timelines and expectations to all stakeholders.
- Anticipate potential delays and develop contingency plans to mitigate impacts on project timing.
Financial and Resource Management
- Ensure the Appropriations Request [AR] is prepared and approved on time to meet program milestones.
- Develop and manage program budgets effectively.
- Optimize project plans by balancing inputs.
- Set clear priorities and organize the team to solve problems.
- Coordinate resources within the programs scope.
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Monitoring and Communication
- Monitor the process, and control deliverables status.
- Handle inquiries or issues from customers and internal personnel promptly.
- Manage conflicts and challenge the team respectfully.
- Follow up the changes with the CFT.
- Make decisions within the program scope and drive the team to achieve objectives.
- Escalate issues to the appropriately using BWS 55011-14.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders.
Reporting and Documentation
- Lead the EOT Workbook preparations [in xPro], ensuring all data and information are up-to-date and accurate.
- Produce accurate and transparent reports of program status for management.
- Maintain necessary communications with customer personnel and senior BorgWarner management.
- Prepare end-of-project reports and program handovers.
- Lead and document Lessons Learned reviews.
- Foster team cohesion and contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
- Ensure all program documentation is complete on time and regularly updated as necessary.

- Identify improvement opportunities and implement changes to enhance program success; recognize areas for improvement and apply lessons learned to drive program success.

Education And Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of work experience in sales, product, manufacturing, or quality engineering with significant customer contact.
- 3+ years of project management experience (Certification with IPMP-C+ & PMP is a plus).
- Strong focus on timing, cost, and quality.
- Demonstrated knowledge of program management, planning & timing, risk and conflict management, problem-solving, and customer communication.
