Software Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer – Mainframe Development to drive the design, development, and maintenance of our mission-critical enterprise applications in Variable Marketing and incentives platform. In this role, you will remain hands-on in the mainframe environment while serving as the primary technical authority for the development team. You will be responsible for ensuring technical excellence, mentoring junior developers, and bridging the gap between business requirements and robust technical solutions. Following are the required skillsets:

• Mainframe Development: Develop, test, and deploy enhancements using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.

Tools : z/os Connect ,IBM CICS explorer, OmegaMon, Endeavor,File manager

Database : DB2

Scheduling Tool: CA7

Nice to have : IMS DB/DC

• Performance Engineering: Analyse and optimize batch processing windows and online transaction performance to meet strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Production Excellence: Provide production support, performing root-cause analysis for complex defects and implementing permanent fixes.
• Modernization & Integration: Support initiatives to integrate mainframe data and logic with modern distributed systems and API frameworks.
  
  
  

Responsibilities

Architectural Guidance: Lead the technical design of complex batch and online systems, ensuring solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Quality Governance: Conduct rigorous code reviews and establish best practices for COBOL, JCL, and DB2 development to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.

Mentorship: Act as a subject matter expert (SME), providing technical coaching and professional development guidance to team members.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Product Owners, Architects, and QA leads to translate business objectives into actionable technical roadmaps.
