This position leads the Foundational Services (FS) User Profile product team, which is responsible for managing Ford Motor Companys global retail User Profile and Preferences. This critical product is utilized globally by hundreds of applications, including the Ford app, ford.com, and Ford Credit to mention a few. Responsibilities

  • Team Mentorship & Growth: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of 6 software engineers, fostering a culture of software craftsmanship and cultivating future technical leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Lead and actively participate in cross-team business sessions, providing critical technical leadership and strategic guidance to align User Profile product development with broader organizational goals.
  • Strategic Product Road Mapping : Collaborate closely with product managers to define and evolve the User Profile and Preferences product roadmap, translating business requirements into technical vision and actionable development plans.
  • Goal Alignment & Execution: Establish clear team goals and objectives that are directly aligned wi th overall EVDD priorities, ensuring focused effort and measurable impact.
  • Architectural Leadership: Spearhead application architecture design and technical solutioning, facilitating collaborative whiteboard sessions and architectural reviews.
  • Multi-Cloud Development: Oversee the development and deployment of scalable multi-cloud SpringBoot/Java API microservices, leveraging Azure Container Apps, Azure services, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Engineering Best Practices: Champion and enforce modern software engineering best practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • System Optimization: Strategically refactor and optimize existing API/microservices to enhance simplification, efficiency, and long-term maintainability.
  • Performance Strategy: Define and architect comprehensive API load and performance strategies, collaborating closely with the dedicated load and performance team for execution and validation.
  • Code Quality Assurance: Instill and ensure adherence to Clean Code principles throughout the software development lifecycle, promoting high-quality, readable, and maintainable code.
  • Collaborative Development: Foster a culture of collaborative development, leveraging SonarQube for continuous code quality analysis and improvement.
  • DevOps Orchestration: Leverage and optimize robust DevOps tools, including Jenkins, SonarQube, Checkmarx , and GitHub, to streamline software deployment, quality assurance, and lifecycle management.
  • Agile Leadership: Drive agile development practices within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, utilizing the agile methodology to optimize workflow, transparency, and continuous delivery.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, ideally within complex, enterprise-level environments.
  • 3+ years of hands-on development experience demonstrating deep proficiency with Java and the Spring Boot framework.
  • Proven technical leadership experience, having served as an "Anchor" or Team Lead within Agile development teams, with a strong track record of mentoring and upskilling software engineers to elevate their software craftsmanship.
  • Expert-level experience in driving and implementing modern Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, eXtreme Programming) and engineering practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Refactoring, Clean Code principles, and collaborative programming (Pairing/Mobbing).
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and deploying large-scale, global APIs on leading cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Deep understanding and practical experience with microservices architecture, including optimizing for resiliency, scalability, and performance.
  • Proficient in the full API lifecycle, including developing, versioning, documenting (e.g., Swagger), and publishing APIs using platforms like Apigee and APIM.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging a comprehensive suite of DevOps tools for automation, quality assurance, and security, including Jenkins, SonarQube, CheckMarx , and GitHub.
