We are a talent acquisition and staff augmentation firm, and we are currently hiring on behalf of one of our clients. Our client is looking to onboard a Shopify Developer across multiple locations in India for a remote/hybrid role that can be offered on a full-time, part-time, or contractual basis, depending on the candidate’s preference and eligibility.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Shopify Developer who can build, customize, and maintain e-commerce storefronts that are fast, reliable, and easy for customers to shop on. This role is open to candidates ranging from early-career developers to seasoned Shopify experts, and involves everything from theme customization and app integration to performance optimization and ongoing store maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, work on Shopify themes both in creating new ones or customizing existing ones.
• Set up and configure Shopify stores, collections, products, and checkout flows.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Shopify apps and third-party integrations.
• Optimize store performance, page load speed, and mobile responsiveness.
• Implement and maintain custom features using the Shopify API and Shopify Plus tools, where applicable.
• Integrate and Embed payment gateways, shipping solutions, and inventory management systems.
• Debug and resolve issues related to themes, apps, and store functionality.
• Collaborate with designers and marketing teams to implement UI/UX changes and campaign pages.
• Monitor store uptime and security, and apply fixes or updates as needed.
• Stay current with new Shopify features, apps, and best practices.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong hold on Shopify theme development using Liquid.
• Well versed with commands of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Shopify’s admin panel, apps ecosystem, and Shopify API.
• Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of version control tools such as Git.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  
  

AI Experience

• Comfort using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to speed up development and debugging.
• Exposure to AI-powered personalization or chatbot apps within the Shopify ecosystem is a plus, though not mandatory.
  
  

Managerial Experience

• This is primarily an individual contributor role; prior team-handling experience is not required.
• For senior candidates, experience guiding junior developers or reviewing their code is a plus.
  
  

Operational Experience

• Experience maintaining a live e-commerce store, including regular updates, bug fixes, and uptime monitoring.
• Familiarity with handling store migrations, backups, and rollback procedures.
• Comfortable working within agreed turnaround times for fixes and feature releases.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory for candidates with relevant hands-on experience.
• 0–5 years of experience in Shopify or web development; freshers with strong project work are welcome to apply.
  
  

Certifications

• Shopify Partner or Shopify theme development certification (preferred, not mandatory).
