Senior Site Reliability Engineer HPC Cloud

We are an R&D IT group developing and operating the AZ Scientific Computing Platform (SCP), a collection of scientific applications centered on a high-performance computing (HPC) environment. Our platform serves scientists across AstraZeneca R&D with use cases ranging from structural chemistry to pharmacology, imaging, multi-OMICs, structural biology, and many more.

Our team comprises 50-60 individuals across three core Technical Teams (HPC Infrastructure, Software Infrastructure, and Applications), a Business Engagement team, an Operations team, and a small Program Management team.Key Accountabilities Support the transition from JIRA-based ITSM to ServiceNow ITSM, including process design, workflow implementation, and operational adoption. Help the users and the engineering team adopt new ways of working in ServiceNow through coaching, documentation, and day-to-day support. Respond to and resolve operational incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive actions to improve service resilience. Improve monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure platform availability, performance, and visibility. Apply DevOps mindset to improve reliability, incident response, and operational readiness across services. Solve technical issues across Linux infrastructure, cloud services, platform tools, and end-user workflows. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Experience supporting or leading ITSM tool transitions, ideally from JIRA to ServiceNow. Strong understanding of incident, request, change, problem, and knowledge management processes. Proven ability to bring teams through process and tooling change. Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience. Experience administering and supporting SLURM. Experience working with cloud platforms, especially AWS. Hands-on experience with monitoring, observability, and alerting tools. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Plus some of the following Hands-on experience with ServiceNow ITSM. Familiarity with HPC environments.
