The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Project Engineer to design, develop, and implement electrical systems, control panels, power distribution systems, and automation solutions for industrial and commercial applications. The candidate will be responsible for creating electrical schematics, selecting components, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and supporting project execution from concept to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop electrical control systems, power distribution systems, and industrial automation solutions.
Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel layouts, and interconnection drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent tools.
Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, and protective device coordination.
Design industrial control panels in compliance with UL508A, NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 79, and applicable NEMA standards.
Select and specify electrical components, including circuit breakers, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, relays, contactors, power supplies, sensors, and instrumentation.
Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), I/O lists, cable schedules, and technical documentation.
Support proposal development by providing engineering estimates and technical solutions.
Collaborate with Controls Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Managers to deliver integrated system solutions.
Review customer specifications and ensure design compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Support panel fabrication, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), installation, and commissioning activities.
Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during project execution and startup.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
5-10 years of experience in electrical design engineering (depending on role level).
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar design software.
Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control circuits, and industrial automation systems.
Understanding of electrical standards and safety regulations.
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable
Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.).
Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication protocols.
Experience in control panel design and automation projects.
Knowledge of ETAP, SKM, or other electrical analysis software.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is a plus.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
