Senior Manager, Engineering (BI)

An experienced and visionary Manager of Business Intelligence responsible for leading our BI team and drive data-driven decision-making throughout the organization. The person possesses a strong background in data modelling, expertise in the DAX language, front-end development, and a deep understanding of Power BI, SQL Server, and self-serve analytics. The Manager of Business Intelligence is responsible for overseeing a team of Business Intelligence Developers and Front-End Developers, ensuring the successful design, development, and delivery of actionable insights to support strategic business goals.

Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Business Intelligence and Front-End Development teams.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Develop and execute a roadmap for the evolution of the BI and analytics capabilities within the organization.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Business Intelligence Developers and oversee external Front End Developers.
  • Ensure the team is aligned with organizational goals and delivers high-quality BI solutions.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide regular feedback to team members.

Data Modelling and Analytics:

  • Drive the development of efficient and scalable data models to support the organizations reporting and analytics needs.
  • Utilize the DAX language to create advanced calculations and measures for accurate and insightful reporting.
  • Oversee the implementation of self-serve analytics tools and empower end-users to derive value from data.

Front End Development:

  • Collaborate with Front End Developers to design and implement visually compelling and user-friendly dashboards and reports.
  • Ensure a seamless integration between data models and front-end visualizations.

Technology Expertise:

  • Demonstrate expertise in Power BI, DAX, SQL Server, and other relevant BI tools.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Key Skills:

  • 13+ years of overall software development experience required
  • Proven experience in data modelling and designing scalable BI solutions
  • In-depth knowledge of the DAX language and its application in creating advanced calculations.
  • Strong front-end development skills, with an emphasis on creating visually appealing and intuitive dashboards.
  • Expertise in Power BI and SQL Server.
  • Experience with self-serve analytics tools.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
