The Role
As a Senior Electrical Switchyard Engineer with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.
- Monitor own progress and ensure it comes within project schedule and quality.
- Comply with the Quality and EHS policies from the project, business, unit and corporate within the own area of responsibility;
- Ensure a coordinate approach in all areas with the other design engineering Activities;
- Ensure that the design of his Engineering function is according to the applicable rules, regulations codes and standards and according to good engineering practices especially with regard to Environmental aspects and Health & Safety of Site Personal, Operators, Maintenance personnel and third parties,
- Take-over project from the offer-team, review/comment and reach agreement on the actual project documentation: Scope of supply and Division of Work, Cost-calculation incl. supplier offers for tendering purposes, “Delta list”, showing the differences between a reference power plant and the contacted plant, Technical and commercial contract documentation as appropriate for his work and his team risk review.
- Independently applies standard design techniques, procedures and criteria acquired through extensive project work experience
- Holds adequate skills in the operation of design aiding IT tools and provide support and guidance to the subordinate team members
- Familiar with the Power Industry Products & Equipment.
- Basic knowledge of the power plant/ industry process
- Preparation of capacity planning and subsequent staffing according to the project requirements.
- Coordinate with the Project Engineering Manager and other projects LE the information workflow and mitigate in case of problems.
- Ensure fulfilment of design, quality, constructability and functionality of this scope of supply and services at the best cost according to the project and contractual requirements.
- Ensure by pro-active follow-up “on-time” delivery
- Identify, plan and conduct Design Reviews and the Design Freeze and ensure that corrective actions defined by the Design Reviews are closed on time.
- Ensure experience feedback from the project to the Lesson Learnt System.
- Compile the project documentation and organize a proper archiving of all project’s relevant documents with the applicable tools.
- Candidates shall be willing to work for high pressure EPC jobs, Co-ordinating with site and Manufacturers to resolve technical issues during Commissioning.
- Switchyard physical design engineering for Transmission & Distribution projects involving Air Insulated Switchyard (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substations up to 400/765 kV.
- Preparation and review of switchyard layout drawings, equipment arrangement plans, section/elevation drawings, busbar layouts, gantry structures, cable routing layouts, grounding layouts, and foundation inputs.
About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:
- Electrical Engineering Degree/ Post Graduation from reputed Institute.
- Having overall experience of 08-15 years in the electrical engineering
- Thorough knowledge of all Switchyard design
- Shall have knowledge of Switchyard equipment layout design, busbar layouts, gantry structure design, cable routine layouts, grounding and power layouts.
- Shall be able to develop MR / Tender specification for switchyards.
- Shall be able to carried out TBA and Vendor drawing review.
- Shall be able to offer commissioning support & troubleshooting.
- Shall be well versed in advanced MS excel to develop various setting calculations & templates. Preferred to have hands on experience on E Tap.
- Must have basic knowledge for industrial power system design and substation design
- Must have basic knowledge for industrial plant detailed engineering including lightning, earthing, equipment sizing, etc.
- Experience in working with international clients with knowledge of national and international standards
- Is fluent in English (written and spoken) and able to lead negotiations in English and good communication skill. Shall be able to lead coordination with other stake holders such as Primary Design Team, BOP Team, Customer, Owners Engineers & vendors
- Shall have ability to plan, organize and co-ordinate well, to delegate and supervise accordingly;
- Effective communication enjoys personal contact.

- Shall be ready and willing to accept changes (Learning capability, openness to innovations, flexibility, self-criticism). shall be willing to work for high pressure EPC jobs, Co-ordinating with site and Manufacturers to resolve technical issues during Commissioning
- Experience in electrical system studies including short circuit analysis, load flow studies, and relay setting calculations for EHV substations and switchyards.
- Familiar with relevant IEC/IS standards, utility specifications, and engineering practices for switchyard design and execution
