Under the responsibility of the Purchasing Department Head/ Procurement Director, the Lead Buyer intervenes at the heart of the Renault/Supplier network.
In his/her area of responsibility, identified as complex and challenging, he/she enjoys increased autonomy to manage the supplier relationship from end to end, negotiate and ensure the supply of parts/services in a sustainable and efficient manner.
He/she is the referent of the Project Purchasing and Life Series processes in the team and provides support and coaching to buyers.
He/she is in charge of the complete relationship with a supplier or a strategic panel and coordinates the activities of this supplier axis in transversal.
Significant activities
The Lead buyer is responsible for the performance of their own scope within their technology, by negotiating changes in a process of continuous improvement (price, quality, logistics, innovation...), respecting the different milestones for client projects, while ensuring the social and environmental responsibility of the company.
He/she is responsible for monitoring the contract throughout the project’s life (development, serial life and end of life) and the supplier relationship from end to end by being the key interlocutor with the suppliers.
He/she is responsible for coordinating the activities of his/her supplier axis or a strategic panel in transverse (potentially beyond his/her convenience).
Based on an expression of need, in connection with the strategy defined by the Purchasing Department Head / Procurement Director on a complex and challenging scope, the Lead Buyer leads the complete supplier selection process with stakeholders, until the proposal and presentation of the sourcing to the top management.
In case of dispute or drift in the implementation of the contract, or in situations of supply crisis, quality... from his perimeter, he/she is a key player in the implementation of solutions with the supplier and the internal and external departments involved.
He is experienced and masters the Project & Serial Life Purchasing processes in the automotive industry and comes to support and coach the team’s Buyers when necessary.
He is an ambassador of the transformation and digitalization of the company: he deploys with his colleagues, the new Procurement processes and digital tools. He gives his feedback and captures the possible improvements.
Autonomy and latitude of action
He/she benefits from increased autonomy in the relationship and negotiation of the supplier(s) within their scope, which fully engages their responsibility.
He/she is under less supervision with the Purchasing Department Head / Procurement Director.
He/she has autonomy in monitoring project milestones with the procurement project managers in the monitoring reviews.
Key Labour Relations
Internal: close collaboration with the R&D, production, quality, and finance departments to align procurement strategies with the overall objectives of the company.
Externals: regular interactions with suppliers, technology partners and service providers to negotiate contracts, evaluate performance and develop strategic partnerships.
Skills required for the performance of the job
Know-how: advanced negotiation capacity, ability to influence and persuade, technical understanding of its scope, economic analysis capacity, legal knowledge, mastery of purchasing processes and digital tools, litigation monitoring, crisis management.
Interpersonal skills: openness and curiosity, adaptability, resilience capacity, advanced multi-level communication, be a creative force, proactivity, pugnacity. Strategic analysis ability, ability to propose solutions / crisis resolution, oral presentations at the executive level, professional English required.
