Regional Lead - Branding, Partnerships & Sourcing

Position Summary

Reporting to: Recruitment Director

The Regional Lead of the Fellow Recruitment vertical will be part of the Recruitment Leadership team, responsible for setting the national strategy alongside with Director and other Regional Leads. They will oversee the development and execution of strategy for one of the two sub-verticals within the team. They will create a robust, compelling and clear vision for 'who' we want to bring into the program - one that reflects thinking beyond just the recruitment vertical - it is a vision that is co-created keeping selection, branding, talent market and the larger alumni movement in mind. They will also need to hold a medium-term orientation towards the sub-vertical, focusing significant time and effort towards ideating and strategizing rooted in talent market needs. They will work alongside the other Regional Leads to attract the right candidates towards the program and design a powerful candidate journey to inform and invest the best-fit candidates.

Note: This role will be an on-ground role that will involve travel, including in-person time with relevant stakeholders, meetings with high potential candidates, and conducting events at different venues.


Team Overview

The Recruitment team advocates to get the greatest leaders into our classrooms to ensure Teach For India’s multiplied impact on the Indian education system. The team has the responsibility to influence the future lifepaths of tens of thousands of young people to make the bold choice of doing something for the India that they always dreamed of. As an external-facing team, we build the brand, visibility and aspiration of Teach For India through engagement with the top institutions of the country, media partnerships, branding and promotion campaigns. The team creates strong champions for the movement by identifying, investing and leveraging influencers, and nurturing partnerships with college and corporate stakeholders. The team provides avenues for prospective applicants to meet with Fellows, Alumni, Staff and Students. Internally, the team works alongside several teams to ensure that the organisation acts as one team in its mission to find our movement of leaders who will eliminate educational inequity and ensure that all children attain an excellent vision.


Responsibilities

Setting a bold vision and strategy for the work

  • Set goals and indicators for the regions and portfolios based on the organisation's ambition and past years' progress.
  • Develop engagement strategies that allow us to attract, inform, invest and influence different candidate archetypes (e.g. Engineers, Male, Corporate, Tier 1 & 2 college students, etc.) toward the vision and mission of the Fellowship.
  • Develop mechanisms - behavioural and process - that enable us to remain oriented towards High-Potential Candidates, whilst scaling our work.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Campus Leader and/or Fellow Recruitment Committee programs - including their hiring, upskilling, accountability and culture.

People and team management

  • Assemble a high-functioning team of 5-6 individuals spread across 4+ regions
  • Coach, manage, empower and capacity-build for each person on the team.
  • Build a strong collaborative team culture that is rooted in Teach For India's culture that values learning, growth, relationships and results.

Process management

  • Capture and investigate data to monitor progress toward goals, identify and analyse trends, and make adaptations to strategy as necessary
  • Create structures, processes and calendars and visibility that enable effective execution, collaboration towards goals, and medium-term stability
  • Manage the regional team budget by allocating resources efficiently and effectively, and defining the annual team calendar and action plan

Stakeholder relationship building

  • Lead and support efforts in building and maintaining relations with universities across the country and internationally, with corporate organizations, youth hubs, etc.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with City Directors. Deeply understand the regional roadmaps, ensure a clear strategy to leverage them locally, work alongside members of the regional staff team, provide ongoing updates, etc.
  • Create strong networks of Alumni, Fellows and Staff in each regions that will ensure sustainable channels for investing candidates in the Fellowship Program.
  • Work alongside all other verticals in the following ways: Selection team to consistently thought-partner on insights about the quality of the Fellowship pipeline to refine our strategies; Communications team to enable regional brand building and resource readiness; Technology team to strengthen the necessary platforms and tools to support the candidate journey.

Overall contribution

  • Actively participate in all Recruitment Leadership Team initiatives, including long term strategy planning, goal setting, resource allocation, problem-solving, national-level projects, team upskilling initiatives and resource sharing.
  • Lead pilot projects and innovations to upgrade approach and systems towards scale, especially within the Candidate Success & Admissions space.
  • Team builder: Take ownership of team members' learning and growth by providing and seeking timely insights and feedback. Additionally, support other sub-verticals within the team with their efforts on an ongoing and need basis

  • Manage and coach the team members to ambitious outcomes.
  • Driving engagement, growth, and retention of team members.
  • Engineering and overseeing a monitoring and evaluation system, coupled with strategic direction, to guide our abilities to continuously improve.

As a Regional Lead at Teach For India

  • Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities.
  • Driving internal alignment and support for Teach For India’s core Programs.
  • Serving as an ambassador of the Teach For India brand and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply.
  • Supporting with key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building.


Knowledge and Technical Skills

  • Strong goal orientation and laser-like focus on outcomes, with proficiency in analyzing large data sets and making inferences to drive strategies and decisions
  • Previous experience managing large projects, setting up systems, processes and teams to successful outcomes
  • Agile, entrepreneurial and resourceful mindset in the face of uncertainty
  • Ability to maintain a demanding travel schedule and work long-hours (especially at key milestones in the Recruitment cycle like Recruitment deadlines)
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills to conceptualize multiple approaches to solving a problem
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills to deliver compelling messages through oral and written medium to diverse stakeholders
  • An orientation towards driving depth and excellence in all aspects of the role


Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • A Bachelor’s or a Master’s Degree in any field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • A deep belief in Teach For India’s vision, mission, and core values
  • In-depth knowledge of the Teach for India Fellowship Program
  • Previous experience leading large projects and/or teams to successful outcomes
  • Recruitment Manager experience preferred
