Job Title: P&ID EngineerJob Description

This role leads P&ID projects and focuses on developing, modifying, and maintaining high-quality piping and instrumentation diagrams for industrial and building services projects. The P&ID Engineer interprets process engineering inputs, converts them into accurate and detailed schematics, and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet industry standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead P&ID projects from concept through completion, ensuring deliverables meet quality and schedule expectations.
  • Develop and modify P&ID diagrams for industrial and building services projects in alignment with project specifications.
  • Interpret process engineering inputs and convert them into clear, detailed piping and instrumentation schematics.
  • Ensure all P&ID designs comply with relevant industry standards and symbols, including ISA and ISO.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to validate and refine designs.
  • Perform tagging, line numbering, and equipment detailing to maintain accurate and consistent documentation.
  • Utilize Scan to BIM modeling workflows to integrate point cloud data into P&ID and BIM environments.
  • Create and update Revit families to support accurate representation of equipment and systems.
  • Support the design and documentation of ELV (Extra-Low Voltage) systems as part of integrated building services.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve design issues and incorporate feedback into revised drawings and models.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience leading P&ID projects for industrial and building services applications.
  • Strong ability to develop and modify P&ID diagrams based on process engineering inputs.
  • In-depth understanding of industry standards and symbols such as ISA and ISO.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, with MEP experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and detailing.
  • Experience using Navisworks and/or BIM 360 for model coordination and review.
  • Experience with Autodesk Recap for point cloud processing and integration into BIM workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Scan to BIM modeling.
  • Experience with Revit Family Creation for equipment and system components.
  • Experience working with ELV systems within building services projects.
  • Strong attention to detail in tagging, line numbering, and equipment detailing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with process, mechanical, and instrumentation teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with BIM-based project delivery workflows.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering documentation and translate it into clear P&ID and BIM outputs.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate documentation across project phases.

Work Environment

The role operates in a design and engineering environment that relies heavily on BIM and CAD technologies, including Autodesk Revit (with a focus on MEP), AutoCAD, Navisworks or BIM 360, and Autodesk Recap for point cloud processing. You will work closely with process, mechanical, and instrumentation teams, collaborating on integrated industrial and building services projects. The position involves detailed digital design work, coordination reviews, and consistent use of P&ID and BIM tools to deliver accurate, standards-compliant documentation.
