Job Overview:

The Logistics & Trade Comp Specialist applies their conceptual knowledge of logistics & trade compliance and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward logistics & trade compliance problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the Company, processes, and customers. The Logistics & Trade Comp Specialist understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coordinate and execute logistics related operational matters including transportation of goods, arranging shipments, managing logistics providers, and tracking shipments to ensure timely delivery, effectively in line with project requirements and budgets
  • Plan and monitor project shipments and liaise with Freight Forwarders to arrange shipments at the earliest.
  • Ensure all necessary shipping documentation is in place prior to departure and arrival of shipments for smooth move/clearance and proper distribution to various departments, including accurate records of import / export activities.
  • Comply with all Customs and regulatory trade requirements of all countries prior to executing any inbound or outbound shipment by air, sea and courier.
  • Operate in accordance with all McDermott company guidelines, policies and procedures. Ensure managers’ approvals are obtained on time.
  • Review of project shipping lists and cargo classes to ensure project compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Review and validate shipping documentation.
  • Check and validate freight forwarders invoices. Reject all invoices with missing records and incorrect charges and ensure the logistic service provider is continuously updated on invoice rejection and status.Alos, ensure proper follow-up is done to resolve any disputed invoices on time .
  • Regular reporting requirements including daily, weekly, and monthly accounts management report to be maintained .
  • Use of systems and data entry to satisfy record-keeping requirements and provide shipping status
  • Bid solicitation, award and execution of logistics services.
  • Liaise with Logistics Service Providers, Shipping Agents and Customs Brokers, internal departments and project team, Engineering, Logistics and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain or Logistics or HSD / GED / IGCSE with three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience dealing with Capital Project Logistics, or a combination of experience and education.
  • A logistics-related background is preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, reliability and ability to learn new topics and technology quickly.
  • Well-organized and detail oriented.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
