Join Standard Chartered as a Principal Engineer having 10+ years of experience and take on the excellent opportunity to provide end-to-end technical leadership for Payment Transaction Remediation (PTR) across our diverse payments platform workstreams.
This pivotal role engages with Workstreams 1 through 5, driving innovation and architectural integrity within a complex, cross-market environment that spans 22 markets and incorporates six distinct payment rails. You will be entrusted with owning critical architecture decisions, specifically focusing on the remediation scopes within Workstream 2 releases 5 to 10 and the anomaly detection systems in Workstream 4.
As a seasoned professional, you will ensure that all delivery efforts are technically executable, risk-managed, and aligned consistently across multiple geographies and technologies.This is a strategic role requiring a blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and an acute understanding of payments domain architecture to influence long-term technology roadmaps and stabilisation strategies within a regulated banking landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Individual Contributor role with cross-squad technical authority (no direct line management).
Define target-state architecture, design principles, and technical guardrails for PTR delivery.
Unblock WS2 R5-R10 with implementation-ready designs for service consolidation, atomicity, idempotency, and per-market isolation.
Lead WS4 multi-attribute anomaly detection design (Velocity, Value, Behaviour, Beneficiary) with business and risk stakeholders.
Govern cross-workstream design quality to prevent architectural drift and control gaps.
Translate approved architecture into clear delivery sequencing, dependencies, and technical decision records.
Provide technical assurance inputs for production readiness, resilience, and control effectiveness in a BC5/S-BIA5 environment.
Solving high-impact reliability and control problems in mission-critical payment systems. Driving measurable stability and risk reduction across a multi-market platform.
