Design Engineer – Interior Trim (CATIA V5)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and develop interior trim components such as:
• Instrument Panel (IP)
• Door Trims
• Center Console
• Pillar Trims (A/B/C)
• Headliner
• Garnish parts
• Glove Box
• Floor Console
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5 (Part Design, Assembly Design, Generative Shape Design, Drafting).
• Develop components according to OEM design standards and packaging requirements.
• Perform feasibility studies, packaging analysis, and interference (clash) checks.
• Design plastic parts considering manufacturing guidelines such as:
• Draft angles
• Wall thickness
• Ribs
• Bosses

• Heat stakes
• Locating features
• Coordinate with CAE, manufacturing, tooling, purchasing, and suppliers.
• Implement Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Participate in design reviews and ensure timely release of CAD data.
• Support prototype builds and production issue resolution.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in CATIA V5.
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Understanding of injection molding and plastic part design.
• Familiarity with automotive interior systems and trim attachment methods.
• Knowledge of tolerance stack-up and DFMEA is an advantage.
• Experience with PLM tools such as Teamcenter or ENOVIA is desirable.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering.
• Typically 2–8 years of experience in automotive interior trim design.
