Job Description

Education Qualification: Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
Years of Experience: 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in automotive plastic trim design (preferably door trims).
Technical Skills:

Strong expertise in CATIA V5, Teamcenter & Vismockup is a plus.
Knowledge of plastic materials and injection moulding processes.
Understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and drawing standards.

Soft Skills:

Ability to work independently and take full ownership of assigned tasks.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Excellent team collaboration across global and cross-functional environments.
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and quality.

Job Description

Conversant with Vehicle Architecture, Vehicle Aggregate Groups, Sub-Groups, Systems and Sub-Systems.
Expertise in Interior Trims Design and Development – Headliner, Soft Trim - Interior - Exterior Hard Trim/Soft Trim.
Ability to ground-up design of all trims (Plastics) components through detailed design and delivery into production.
Functional expertise in design and development of interior trims aggregates and to take technical decisions with Design & Release Engineers and suppliers as required.
Independently create CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using CATIA V5.
Responsible for CAD models and associated drawings of components and assemblies in adherence with FORD procedures and standards.
Ensure all designs meet packaging, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and design rule requirements.
Establish manufacturing, assembly and service feasibility.
Optimize concepts and designs.
Collaborate closely with cross functional team to resolve technical issues.
Engage in regular communication with global teams for design alignment and status reporting.
Conversant with New Product Introduction process, its milestones and delivery success criteria for engineering.
Monitor timelines and deliverables to ensure program targets (cost, weight, quality, timing) are met.
